Tonklily Posted June 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2011 We will docked in Venice on June 26th, and then leaving the ship on the 27th for a 10:15 a.m. flight. Should we purchase the HAL transfer for $79.00 or can we easily get from the ship to the airport on our own, and for less money? We have 5 people in our party. :)
mapleleaves Posted June 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2011 The various tranport options to the airport are discussed in this article. Depends on your budget, your mobility and amount of luggage. For a 10:15 flight, you need to be IN the airport at 8am. http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/arriving_in_venice.htm The most convenient method, door to door, would be a taxi from the pier to the airport. A 15-20 minute drive. For 5 people and luggage you may need 2 taxis; 40E per taxi. Or you could reserve a private water taxi for 110E http://www.motoscafivenezia.it/eng/ Taking a water taxi would be the most scenic. However at the end you will need to walk from the pier to the airport. The most economical way, if you haven't overpacked, is the ATVO airport express bus for 5E. First you take the People Mover to the Piazzale Roma (1E, 3 minute monorail ride). At signpost D2 you catch the bus. The reason to mention overpacking is that you must walk your luggage to the PMover entrance, maybe 2 blocks, and then another block from the PMover exit to the bus stop. Total 6E pp.
