pamincornwall Posted March 17, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2005 I've heard a lot of mention on the boards about "hump" rooms on the Voyager class ships. I'm currently booked for a E2 balcony (non-hump - in the middle towards the library) on VOS, but I see that there is a "hump" room in the same category available for the same price. According to the ship plan, the room in question is close to elevators and staircases and I would assume very noisy with people going by? Can anyone confirm this? Can anyone explain the advantages/disadvantages of a "hump" room?
Peggy13 Posted March 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2005 We were in cabins 7606-7608 right ahead of the hump on the Voyager - near the elevators/library - we heard no noise. It was a good location.
Ollie_WA Posted March 17, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2005 We were in a JS on the hump,on the Explorer last year! We loved it...no noise at all, and very convenient to the stairs and elevator. We also found that our balcony was bigger then our friends that were also in a JS but not on the hump. We have a hump E2 on the Navigator this July. and our daughters are ina regular E2....we will see if there is any difference. Ollie
britchicknyc Posted March 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2005 I had started a thread similar to this about a week/10 days ago. I have a hump room booked on the VOS and apparently you get a much better view....

Can anyone explain the advantages/disadvantages of a "hump" room? We were on the Seranade the week of 1/29/05 in one of those hump rooms. It was fantastic since the balcony was twice the size we usually get. The only drawback was our cabin was directly above one of the lounges and we heard the base thumping music every so often. TxKroozer Posted March 18, 2005 #8 Share Posted March 18, 2005 The wife and I will be "humpers" on the Mariner in January. We have humped before on the AOS and loved the location and ease of access and little noise at all.

SeaBrz Posted March 18, 2005 #10 Share Posted March 18, 2005 Britchick -- Oh My God! STOP!!! HELLO, Mr TxCrooser -- I hope you have a great cruise, but there are some people here on the board (like BRITCHICK) that have misinterpreted your message. Could you please reassure her (us) that we do NOT need to move your message to the "adult forum". LMAO! hugs, sorry ... please don't bar me sb
britchicknyc Posted March 18, 2005 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2005 Goodness I was only teasing! If you see my prior posts I too and booked on a hump balcony cabin and was simply asking the pros/cons of these.
Candleonwater Posted March 18, 2005 #12 Share Posted March 18, 2005 I'll try to remember to check back here after my cruise (a week from now). We're in an E2 on deck 8 - mid-hump
cruzfiend Posted March 18, 2005 #13 Share Posted March 18, 2005 Do you know if the balcony is the same size on the Serenade, as opposed to the Voyager class, on the hump?
Honey's Gal Posted March 18, 2005 #14 Share Posted March 18, 2005 We have had hump cabins on both the Voyager and the Serenade. I beleive the one on the Serenade was just a little bit larger (9584). Both cabins were very good and the locations are excellent. No noise at all.
Rala Posted March 18, 2005 #15 Share Posted March 18, 2005 I would agree with Honey's Gal (previous poster). We had same cabin on Serenade. Great location--no noise at all. On the meg-ships the hump cabins are quiet unless you are on the deck just above the Promenade or an entertainment venue. In that case, you may hear music, etc. I always try to book a cabin that has cabins above and below me.
diceboy Posted March 18, 2005 #16 Share Posted March 18, 2005 Just had 8620 and our friends had 8322 on the AOS a few weeks back. For us it wasn't so much the view but the location that made these cabins special. Stairs and elevators right there.
cruzfiend Posted March 18, 2005 #17 Share Posted March 18, 2005 Diceboy, was the balcony that much bigger than a normal balcony room.
gizfish Posted March 18, 2005 #18 Share Posted March 18, 2005 The hump rooms have a seperate hallway to access them that keeps them away from the elevator and stair noise, and keeps people using the elevators and stairs away from the rooms as well.
