MikeNJ1109 Posted June 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 6, 2011 Hi allJust wondering if anyone could tell me the procedure for boarding, for example do you go to your cabin straight away, are pools and restaraunts open. Sailing in sept on freedom of the seas....Thanks 1) There is a good possibility that the cabins will NOT be available until 1 pm. 2) Have a carry bag with you with a change of clothes (such as a swimsuit and t-shirt) as your luggage may not arrive for a few hours. 3) Everyone goes to the WJ for lunch. Try something else, like Cafe Promenade for lunch ... it's a great place to watch people as their jaw drops from viewing the awesome ship. 4) Have a drink a three. 5) Make your specialty dinner reservations and / or spa reservations early. 6) Did I mention having a drink or three? Jimnbigd Posted June 6, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 6, 2011 The tall drinks that a lot of waiter will be offering are NOT FREE. They are close to $9 I think. You do get to keep the glass, but then taking a very breakable glass back with you is not always easy. You can get the same drink in a regular glass for less money. Also the Freedom of the Seas has Sorrentos for pizza and salad. It might be open for lunch departure day, but I'm not sure. If you have kids, check out Adventure Ocean. And walk around the ship. Also the spa usually has tours of what they offer. The bars shut down during the muster drill (the safety briefing). We usually see if by chance the cabin is ready, since it is usually easier to drop off the carry-ons before walking around the ship. Most people check their large luggage with a porter (tip around $2 per bag). It will be delivered in the hall outside our room. (Sometimes your cabin attendant will put it in the room, but not unpack it.) After you unpack, put your luggage under your bed. Oh, check your cabin for storage behind the small side mirrors above the dresser/desk -- great for perfurmes and lotions. If in doubt, ask your cabin attendant where all of the storage areas are. waterbug123 Posted June 6, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2011 Hi allJust wondering if anyone could tell me the procedure for boarding, for example do you go to your cabin straight away, are pools and restaraunts open. Sailing in sept on freedom of the seas....Thanks Cabins aren't usually ready or accessible until 1:00 pm, so whatever you carry on the ship will stay with you until your cabin is ready. Checked luggage will be delivered throughout the afternoon, and may not show up until after dinner, so make sure your carry on includes anything you'll need until then, such as a swimsuit, or change of clothes for dinner if you don't want to dine in whatever you wore to board the ship. Rx and valuables should, of course, be in your carry on as well! Pools/hot tubs are generally open; sometimes one pool is open and one is closed. The Windjammer will be open, as well as other casual places, like the Wipeout Cafe or Cafe Promenade. The dining room will not be open, and if I recall correctly, Johnny Rockets will not be open. Most of the bars will be open and doing a booming business, LOL. The spa will be open (I think), but the shops and casino will remain closed until the ship sails and reaches international waters. Hope that helps!
