robinp Posted June 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2011 Thiinking about booking a pre-cruise stay here ....are any good restaurants near there.....is there a grocery store near to get water..soda etc?....can we walk to these places.....Any info would be helpful:) My wife and I stayed there prior to a TA in April 10, both really liked it. There is a Wallgreens just outside the hotel which stocks a good selection of juice/soda, chocolate and crisps/chips, and general toiletries etc. The hotel also has a small and I mean small shop which stocks a handfull of snacks and drinks. There is also a good selection of restaurants along SE17th Street (or whatever the street is called). As we had just got off a flight from the UK and it was about 9:30pm I grabbed a cab, went to Vitos Gourmet Pizza just along the street and headed to bed so I haven't been to any of the nany main eateries. I believe there are a number of nice places to eat, especially sea food.
firstcruiserDB Posted June 11, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2011 We stayed at the Hilton Marina last summer the night before our Oasis cruise. It was great! We had a high floor on the side of the hotel where we could see that beautiful ship when we got up in the morning! It was really exciting! Fort Lauderdale's water taxi has a stop right at this hotel, also. There's a great restaurant directly behind the Hilton called 15th Street Fishery. http://www.15streetfisheries.com/ You can either eat casually outside on the Intercoastal Waterway or at a more upscale restaurant inside. We chose to eat outside and it was a great way to get our vacation started. Food was great and atmosphere was fabulous. We really enjoyed it and would go back again! It is not, however, walkable from the hotel as it's across the water. It was a short 10 minute cab ride and only about $10.
Rare steamboats Posted June 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2011 There are lots of restaurants along SE 17th Street when you walk West. Check out here on google maps The Hilton is on the upper right (with the marina). We had dinner at Waxy O´Conners twice (on the left side, North of SE 17th street). When you go down there at Cordova Rd you can see a big building marked with "Lauderdale Grill". Zoom in there and you´ll see it marked as "Publix Supermarket". steamboats
