Casino chips on S&S?

Are casino chips bought on the Sign & Sail card? Can they be redeemed for cash easily?

 

I want to have about $500 cash for the trip but I don't want to carry it around before hand. Also, if I buy on S&S, which is tied to my credit card, I will get reward points. So, can I use casino chips as my ATM? Are the chips redeemed for cash or do they go back to S&S credit?

Okay, thanks. Are there ATM machines or another way to get cash without a big surcharge? I've booked a couple of shore excursions that want to be paid cash.

The surcharge is less than what they charge you to use the ATM.

But yes, there are ATM's. They do tend to run out by the end of the cruise.

I haven't done it but there is a way to download cash to your sail and sign card at the casino at the slot machines. Then you can go to the cashier and cash it in with no surcharge. Someone posted about it including photos, if someone has the link.

If you want to take money to gamble with I suggest you get travelers checks and cash them on board to use. Your winnings get added to your sail & sign card. However they are in a different account than the expenses part. You would need to cash out any winnings to use that money for anything else on the ship. :cool:

That is exactly what I have done. Here is the thread about getting money from the slot machines. This way we also don't take much money with us at the start of the cruise. We get the money from our S&S card & then go to the cashier.

 

FYI - Whatever money is on the card, you can get a portion of the money from the S&S card, you don't have to cash it all until the last night.

 

Definitely don't go to the ATM's. I think you are charged $5 per transaction.

Never having been on a cruise I really don't know how the ATM's work aboard ship. But I find it hilarious that they tend to run out of money by the end of the cruise!!

 

Sounds like a lot of people aren't worried about the $5.00 fee per transaction I read about! If I get into a gambling frenzy I would probably pay MORE than $5.00 to get some loot and try to get my money back in the casino!! ha!

 

(I guess I'll find out during my FIRST cruise July 31st on the CONQUEST!!)
