Plenty of taxis available at Istanbul port?

We will be disembarking in Istanbul and have a flight at 11:10 AM. Are there normally plenty of taxis available at the port, or has anyone experience a long wait to get one?

When we were in Istanbul, we were swarmed with taxi drivers at the port...hard to try and avoid them! I don't think you will have any problem. Ask the price before you get in though.

Yes, and then when you arrive at the airport, make sure you get out of the cab and have your things before you pay. Know the price and hand the driver the money and tell him the amount you are giving him.

 

I found taxi drivers in Istanbul to the be the worst of anyplace I've ever been as far as trying to rip off tourists.

We had one try the old lira style meter and want 6,000,000 Turkish lira from us, but we knew that scam and I was able to say no and just handed him what the fare had been on another ride. This was back in 2006 though and you shouldn't run into that anymore. I found Istanbul exhausting for bartering, seemed like you had to barter for absolutely everything. Hubby loved it!
