TA is actually correct... As long as all the bookings are linked, you should have no problem.. Check your sign n sail card as soon as you get them and make sure you all have the same table assignment. If you don't, check the Fun Times as the Maitre'd is usually in the dining room around 1:30 to make changes/get requests...

TA is correct. You may no longer make a table size request at the time of booking.

At least not on Carnival. You can request table size on Celebrity, RCI and HAL at the time of booking. But, a good TA will E-mail the request to the Maitre'D on the ship in question or go through their inside sales rep or Carnival DSM to get whatever their clients need.

I emailed the maitre d's a two top request for both of our upcoming sailings. Both times they responded within hours! (was very impressed) For our Miracle sailing he said he would try his best & for our Ecstasy anniversary cruise he told me to "consider it done!" So maybe it's worth a shot for you to email yours, certainly can't hurt. Your maitre d's email would be spmaitred@carnival.com. Don't forget to give them your info, cruise date, booking & cabin #. Good luck!
