Left luggage at Nice, France airport-safe?

We are flying into Nice next March for a week in France before our cruise. We are staying in Nice for one day after our all night flight from the US. I saw on the airport's website that there is a left luggage place. The prices seemed reasonable. Since we will have been up most of the night, I thought it might be easier to leave our big luggage at the airport and pick it up the following morning and just have our carryons with us. We are picking up the car that second morning before heading to Provence. I thought it might be easier than shuffling the luggage onto a bus that carryons would be easier. My question is: are the bags going to be secure? We will be touring Nice via public transportation since most of the hotels do not have parking plus it is advised not to have anything in the car if you do venture into Nice with a car. Is this a workable plan or am I just adding more confusion?
