Question about upgrades?????

Have you ever been upgraded by the cruiseline when you book through travelocity or any other online booking source, or do you only have a chance to get upgraded if you book directly through the cruiseline?????

We did last year we booked an 8A and got the Penthouse it was so wonderful and unexpected it was on the Alaska Cruise line Carnival Spirit AND WE DID BOOK ON EXPEDIA.COM

we got a 6 cat. upgrade on Carib. Princess. (booked lowest guaranteed balcony and got highest cat. balcony on Lido deck. (had booked through Travelocity).
