Live from the Caribbean Princess

Today was one of the busiest days I have seen in St. Maarten. We were first to dock, followed by Explorer of the Seas. Century dropped anchor out front, then Carnival Glory backed in behind us. After we got off the ship, Carnival Victory docked behind Explorer, and Westerdam anchored out next to Century. This is the most ships I have ever seen in this port on one day.

On our 4/30 cruise next month, there are NINE ships scheduled to be in port in St Maarten! Wonder if they are gonna have a traffic cop on a boat in the harbor......

Love the Live reports!! Thanks so much! And now my question...... Can you tell me about the Splash Pool area on the Sports Deck? Shady, sunny, crowded, deserted?? Thanks!

Thanks for the info Emerald777. I checked out April 6 when we will be in St Martin and there will be six ships in port !!!!!! Should be interesting.

Our plan so far is to go to the beach in front of town and relax. My wife and daughter need to pick up some jewelry they ordered on our last visit in Feb. I will suggest they do that early.

Frugalist, thanks so much for this! We are coming aboard this Saturday and you are really building the excitment for us.

If it is possible, can you tell me what rums I can purchase and have delivered to my cabin? Would rather not cart a bottle from home but I could not get a straight answer from Princess on my options.

Keep those reports coming!

Bacardi Rum

Bacardi Limon

Cruzan Coconut Rum

Capt. Morgan Spiced Rum

all at $20 per bottle. Look for the complete list of wines and liquors available for delivery to your cabin in the big Ship's Services book in your stateroom. It also contains the standard room service menu.

Frugalist - Thanks for the updates. I jump onboard the CP 4/2/05. I also have been checking in daily to see what the menus are as I want to book a couple nights at Sterlings. Did it last year and it was delish!! Since you seem to frequent the Cafe can you tell me if there is more than one Seafood night? I heard last year (after having dinner in the dining room) that they had lobster and other seafood on the buffet more than once and I was so mad to miss it!!!! Definitely going to check out the Seafood buffet the first night!! How are the deck parties? I missed them last year!!

Kim/Ft. Lauderdale

Lobster, King Crab legs, shrimp for shrimp cocktail and lots of other seafood were served both the first and second nights. Shrimp in one form or another has been served every night. Monday night in a seafood paella (sp?), last night it was grilled shrimp and sea scallops kabobs, tonight a type of grilled shrimp again. The place is a seafood lover's heaven. Tomorrow night is formal night with lobster tails in the dining rooms. I wouldn't be surprised if lobster is also served at Caribe Cafe. Why not do what we've done a couple of times: get a little of the best stuff at CC then go down to the dining room if there's something good on the menu there. We've gone to the dining room for ice cream a couple of times after eating dinner at CC.

The deck party last night was fun. Nothing new, but they're always fun.

We find it is almost required reading to go through the next day's Patter before going to bed. Get an idea of what's going on and highlight the things you want to be sure to hit.

Ya got it! Do you put up the info on the Caribe Cafe? We are finding dinner there to be preferable to dinner in the dining room most of the time. Tonight we went to the Cafe because we wanted to try the different (for us) cuisine and we didn't feel like changing clothes again. What's the URL for your web site?

By the way, the Island Night Party was at the Neptune Pool, which is a first for us. All of the Island Night Parties we went to on the Grand and the Golden were at the aft adult pool. I think there's more room for dancing, watching and partying at Neptune's.

Frugalist,

The url for my website is in my signature right under my name.

Well Bill...I'm glad you ask this because I was starting to think my memory got lost again :D As far as I can recall ....Monday was Italian and Tuesday was Carbbean on my CP cruise a couple of weeks ago....so apparently they must have changed it.

BTW...thank you a gazzillion trillion times for your website!!! :)

Nicecara,

Do you remember the order of the dinners when you cruised a couple of weeks ago? I'm wondering why they changed the order?

Did they have Caribbean night on Tuesday when you cruised? I need to keep more with all the changes. Maybe CC can chip in and buy me a ticket once a month. :D

As CRLess already posted, there were 6 huge ships in St. Maarten today. Yes, downtown was pretty crowded. But, we just took our time, tried to stay on the shady side of the street and ducked into an air conditioned store every now and then. We accomplished our main goal of getting my wife a new diamond ring. Needless to say, she is one very happy lady tonight. I will not be online long as I believe we are going to bed early tonight <wink, wink> LOL!!!!

We took the water taxi from the ship's dock over to Front Street. $5 per person for unlimited rides (who takes more than one round trip?). It was a lot more fun than a regular cab would've been.

We were about 1/2 an hour late leaving as the captain was waiting for three stragglers to show up. Since they were only three, I don't think it was a ship's excursion returning late. I'm surprised the captain waited. Doesn't really matter to me since once we're on the ship we can stay in port or leave whenever the captain wants and we'll just have a great time doing whatever.

We sat in on Bert Stratton's first set. He really is very good. Probably one of the best and most consistent cruise entertainers I've seen. Gotta go try to find my wife in the casino now and see what she wants to do.

Hi-

had heard Platinum members get free internet at the internet cafe, but not for wireless....can somebody explain why that is?...makes no sense...seems like the signal would go in/out the same satellite....so why is one free and the other not? maybe somebody on board can get an answer on this...hard to beleive

anybody got any insight on this by chance???????

I haven't looked this trip, but in the past I remember seeing a list of bottles you can have delivered to your room. Is there anything in particular you're looking for? I'll check the menu and try to get back to you.

Typically we want gin and/or vodka. Bombay Saphire or Tanqueray in a pinch, and Absolut or Kettle One does fine for a vodka. Thanks.

Thanks Ziggy

I checked my cruise 10/8/05 and the most ships at one of the 3 ports is only 2 (us and the Enchantment of Seas) That is great, won't be that crowded. Frugalist--thanks for posting so much. It is making me wish I was there now--since we had more snow last night(getting really tired of it).

If you have a chance to check out the fitness center, will you see if they have spinning classes? These are group exercise classes on a stationary bike. My husband did these last year on RC and really liked it.

Thanks for posting, and enjoy your cruise!

I noticed there's another Group Spin Cycling class today($10 per person). Sounds like a lesson on how to do your laundry, but it's in the gym, so I'm pretty sure that's what you're asking about. :)
