Kiwi Kruzer Posted June 29, 2011 #5 Share Posted June 29, 2011 Great news indeed. When we cruised on Rotterdam the 3rd Officer was a woman from NZ , and she was in command in taking the ship out of several ports.

dougo in oz Posted July 9, 2011 #10 Share Posted July 9, 2011 At the cocktail party on the Pac Sun a couple of weeks ago, Captain Box told us that Sarah was taking over as Captain from Charlie Carr. He also added that she used to be his second in command a few years ago and he was scared of her then !!! lol Good on her - it's about time there was a bit of girl power on the high seas !! LOL:D Get a grip kiwi sailor - I have been backing trailers for years (mostly horse floats) without a problem and I know I'm not alone ;) They dont need backing skills these days. Todays Captains just programme it all into a computer , and that takes them there. They do however , need to have , very good computing skills. One Captain once told me , on the Sydney to Auckland run, the computer took it there and all he had to do was guide the ship for the last 1 metre to the wharf.:D
