Accessing free wifi in Kusadasi and Istanbul

I read that there are apps to download ahead of time that will allow me to find free wifi hot spots in Turkey. Can anyone link or recommend an app or a place to access free wifi in Kusadasi and Istanbul?

 

And finally, Just to make sure I'm doing this correctly:

 

1) I need to turn my iphone to airplane mode to avoid data charges while in Europe.

2) When in airplane mode, I will need to manually turn on wifi. This will allow me to access free wifi and avoid charges.

 

Anything else I'm missing?
