Booster seats/airline travel

When we used to fly with carseats, it was easy enough to put them in a carrying bag and check them as luggage.......never any issue with damage. Now that we have boosters seats for the kids (NOT backless), what's the best way to take them on the plane? I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to use them on the plane, so that means they'll have to be checked. They seem more "flimsy" than a convertible carseat and I'm concerned they'll get damaged. Any help?

Yes, boosters are not approved for use on any airline. I can only suggest packing them in a box to protect them if you are concerned about damage.

When we traveled with ds's high back booster last year i detached the back when we got to the airport and put that in my suitcase and we carried the backless portion on the plane and stored it in the overhead bin. That way the back was protected and we were sure we had a way to leave the airport if any luggage got lost. I never like to check carseats with the luggage!
