Drinks on Us Program

Recommended Posts

I know it's on the Dream. DW hit 1000 points two days before our cruise was over which gave her a $10 credit on her account. On the last night before we got off, she hit the 1500 points for the free drinks. I hit that same night for the $10 credit. As Serene said, it's only good in the casino and then only through the servers. You cannot go to the casino bar and get a drink. Has to be through the servers and only for yourself.

Anyone know how this program is doing in the casino? Haven't really heard much about it lately....has it been rolled out on all ships by now?

We used it on the Dream in Jan. Both of us had our 1500 points by the 2nd day & got our little tags showing "drinks on us". Anything we ordered at a machine in the casino was free. They brought out the zero receipt each time and I finally realized they weren't getting tipped; so I started giving them a tip and they KEPT bringing my drinks. They didn't care if we ordered and walked out. It was probably my favorite perk ever on a Carnival ship. End of cruise I checked my S & S receipt and we saved a LOT of money on drinks! We've never had a final bill be so low...with 50+ drinks at zero cost!

We decided that that would be one requirement of future cruises; that they have the "drinks on us" program. Free drinks while we lose in the casino isn't too much to ask! :o

We are on the Legend in January and I read in someone's Fun Times that they DO have the program. :D

What irks me about Carnival casino perks is that they only count points for slot machines.

In order to be rated on the tables, you have to bet $25 minimum hands and play for at least 4 hours at a time. Otherwise, no points.

My husband likes to play Texas hold 'em, which they no longer have at an actual table. All they have are the computerized poker tables. My husband easily plays 3 hours a day on these things, betting far more than $25 hands. But you earn no points, or get rated at all, when you use these machines.

Just seems like if they're going to offer something like this, they ought to be fair about it.

You would think they would offer it on all machines.

It was not on the Ecstasy in May. :(

At 1st I thought it was supposed to be rolled out fleetwide, but aparently not according to John Heald........I got my card on the Glory in February as soon as I got on the ship....I had been on the Ecstasy earlier that month and had let the Players Club know I was sailing again, so as soon as I introduced myself to the Casino Host, he said I have a card for you!!!!!

WooHoo...........I saved a bundle..............

In Oct. of 2010, we did a B2B on the Freedom. At the beginning of the cruise, the casino director came over to me while I was sitting at the slots and called me by name. (well, asked if I was ______ ______) Needless to say, I was stunned when, after identifying myself, she handed me a "Drinks on Us" card. Prior to this we hadn't cruised for a year.....don't know how that happened, but it was great !

Good to know...but there was nothing showing they got a tip & that wasn't acceptable...so I tipped. Better overtip than undertip. They work too hard for that. :)

So are you saying you DID get free drinks on the Ecstasy and that it was a Players Club freebie vs. a Carnival thing? I didn't think about that... :o

I second this question! More out of curiosity than anything else :)

Does the program count your previous cruises as well?

You rack up points by putting your sail and sign card in the machine while you play or handing it to the dealer at a table. The points do not carry over from cruise to cruise. You start at 0 each time you cruise.

Actually, that's not exactly true....Carnival players club keeps track of how many points you accumulate on cruises within a 2 yr period and will comp you accordingly. We've gotten a "drink card" as soon as we showed up in the casino, we get offers for the VIP cruises and we've got a totally comped suite on our 8 day cruise coming up in Aug.

The 'drinks on us' card only counts the points earned on that particular cruise.... on our last cruise I would have "earned" the card by the end of the 2nd night :o

To be rated at table games, I understood you have to play $25 hands for at least 4 hours?

Well for the comps yea....it sounded like other person didn't know how you get points period.

How do you get a drink card as soon as you go to the casino if the points for that cruise are the only ones that count? For playing so much on previous cruises? Just curious, that would be great!
