kidoctr Posted March 21, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2005 Well, I've read through all the recent threads and haven't seen one for this trip. Anybody else going? We are a family of 4 - DH and I have a daughter who will be 8 and a son who will be 6 at the time of this cruise. DH and I are seasoned cruisers but are first timers on Disney (though we are routine Mouse worshippers) and this is our childrens' first cruise ever. We spent our family vacation in 2004 at WDW for 5 days and the kids had a BLAST. DH and I honeymooned at WDW and returned for our 10 year anniversary a few years ago. We are going to DL for 3 days before the cruise staying at the Grand Californian. It's been well over 10 years since we have been back to DL. Our last cruise to Alaska on Celebrity (without kids) we had enough CC'ers to have a party! Looking forward to meeting anyone else on this cruise to share "notes" with ~
kidoctr Posted March 28, 2005 Author #2 Share Posted March 28, 2005 My DD 16 and I will be on this cruise too! DH and older DD don't want to be immersed in Disney for a week. We are annual passholders for DL/DCA and went to WDW last year for Spring Break as well as 8 years ago. We cruised to Mexico last year on RCL and are looking forward to this cruise. the Disboards website has a cruisemeet thread for this cruise. There should be quite a few families with children the same age as yours. Enjoy planning for the cruise! Thanks for responding! I would love to go on another mother-daughter trip someday. The last was when I took my DD to Chicago with me for a business conference - she was 3 at the time and we had a blast as it was over Halloween and DS was too young to care. Seems like eons ago. What is the "Disboards website"? Do you have a link to the cruisemeet thread by chance? TIA ~
kidoctr Posted March 28, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted March 28, 2005 Thanks for the link! I'm going to check it out this afternoon. Nope, haven't made any excursion plans yet. I finally found them and have read through them but couldn't say that anything just jumped out at me. Have you scheduled any for you/your DD yet? I was considering the dolphin encounter - think the kids would have a BLAST but it's SO short! Eve - who can't get the countdown timer to work.... :-(
JTcruiser Posted March 29, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2005 Sorry :( , I don't remember how to do a timer so I'm not much help. Nothing jumped out at us either excursion-wise. Plus last year my DD was definitely not thrilled with Ensenada so I'm not sure if she'll want to leave the ship! She may want to go horse-back riding but I'm thinking that will be really hot! We may just spend some time at resorts - Krystal in PV sounds good and not too far from the dock. We are on deck 5 in a secret porthole room - which deck are you? My kids have never been to the beach (a real beach). They'll probably be happy as clams just hanging out on the beach. I've been to the Mexican Riviera before, but DH hasn't. I have no idea what deck we're on. I thought we didn't find out until we get our cruise documents. How do you find out? Just through the TA? I visited the DIS board - WOW - so many posts. I'm not even half way through the posts yet. I can't believe they've been posting on that thread for almost a year now! I thought *I* was completely compulsive about reading and researching a trip ahead of time. LOL ~
kidoctr Posted March 29, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted March 29, 2005 OK - I just got to the part where you joined the discussion at DIS. Only about 700 more posts to go but I'm getting a lot of info reading through the old posts first. See you soon ~
JTcruiser Posted March 30, 2005 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2005 There's a lot of celebrating the 'top of the page,' the weather and things like that. I really don't post too often. When I made my reservations, I gave the TA a list of rooms and the Secret Porthole room was available. I have a friend who is an Adapted PE specialist who was from Enid. Her father was a Speech Pathologist at whatever univ is there. Anyway, when you get farther along in the posts, "FamilyMan" I believe has kids close to the age of yours. There is also another poster who has young kids. They also don't post very often. Talk to you later...will you be posting on the DIS board?
