Pina Colada Princess Posted July 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2011 We'll be traveling on Majesty of the Seas in November with our 7 month old. Will the ship have a life vest for her? Any tips for cruising with an infant?
jlrn366419 Posted July 13, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2011 Yes they will have a life vest for her. If you want something for the beach or any land resort pools you may be visiting at your ports, you will have to bring your own flotation device for her. kitty9 Posted July 13, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 13, 2011 In case of emergency, they don't use life vests but infant cots. There are no life vests for infants that young provided by the cruise line. What they have is a tiny, sheltered float where you put the baby before boarding the lifeboat.
INeedAMaiTai Posted July 13, 2011 #4 Share Posted July 13, 2011 We had to put the infant vest on my then 6 month old for the muster drill. Funniest thing I've ever seen.
luvmy2babies Posted July 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2011 I have been off here for a while, but saw this and thought I'd relay my experience. I'm planning to bring Coast Guard approved life vests for both my children when we cruise next summer. When we cruised last (Royal Caribbean) my dd was 4 and there was no child vest in the room for her. It was not in my cabin I shared with dh and it was not in the cabin she was staying in with my mom. I asked if I was supposed to bring one myself and they said they'd bring one. I asked every day and one never came. Just going to bring my own next time. Julienatul Posted July 15, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2011 We had a life vest provided for my 7 month-old when we sailed Grandeur of the Seas. This was 5 years ago so things may have changed but the room steward brought it before muster drill
Ashera0 Posted July 17, 2011 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2011 I am bringing life vests for my DS 5 years old and DS 1.5 years old on our upcoming cruise. Even if they have them in the room, if they go on any tenders it is much safer for them to have life vests on since they can't take the ones from the room. The tenders do carry life vests for emergencies but you don't actually put them on. I will be holding my kids the whole time but why risk anything!
