I will be on the Triumph in August, traveling to Key west, Freeport, and Nassau. I would love to plan some activity before hand. What should I do at each port?

what I like to do is:

snorkeling, beach time, sight seeing. what is the best thing to do at each port?

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

Here are some of the things I enjoy in each port:

Key West- Authentic Key Lime Pie at the Blonde Giraffe. Visiting the Southernmost Point. Walking up into the lighthouse for great views. Bar hopping on Duval Street.

Nassau- Taking a water taxi over to Paradise Island to see Atlantis and enjoy the beaches. My wife enjoyed seeing the Queens Staircase.

Freeport- One of the few Caribbean ports that I have not yet visited.

I'm not a big fan of Freeport, so that would be a perfect day to stay on the ship and get at in-port spa special or relax by the pool. It's actually very nice having the ship to yourself (for the most part) when in port.

Welcome to cruise critic. Great questions. Usually you are in Key West in the mornings. Not sure where you are from but you might like to see the sights of KW. If you snorkle in KW, there is a pretty strong current so be prepared. Smathers Beach is a nice place to relax on the beach. Perhaps you would like to parasail there. Lots to do in a short period of time in KW.

In Nassau you could do the swim with the dolphins or just walk around the straw market. Some like to get a cab over to Paradise Island and spend the day.

Haven't been to Freeport so can't give suggestions there. Have a great cruise.

In August.....It will be HOT.HOT.HOT.HOT....If you are interested in Parasailing...I have found Key West has the best prices for this activity. Fury sailing offers several options for water activities.

As others have mentioned, Key West is a neat place to look around. The Mel Fisher Museum (finder of largest sunken treasure ever) is a neat option and adjacent to Duvall for the bars/eateries.

Enjoy your cruise.

When we went to Key West, we rode on the street trolly that took you around Key West and showed you area. A lot of stuff that is interesting about Key West. We got off at the last stop and rented scooters!! (Must Do) It was only $35 for two people!! Free gas included!! It's a easy town to get around and you can go experience the whole town on your own. You can't get lost!! It's so much fun!! We went all around Key West and LOVED LOVED it!! Make sure you eat Key Lime Pie!! It's DELICIOUS!! We got ours from Kermit's!!

Nassau we rented scooters again and rode to Paradise Island. Went to the beach and several other places. (it did get tricky when you keep wanting to drive in the right land but over there they drive on the left side of the road:( We kept getting confused!! Rode around the main Island also and it got kinda crowded and more dangerous (the locals drive like nuts)!! We had a blast!!

Freeport was ok!! We went to the beach (water was freezing, but still had to get in it because of course I was in the bahamas and couldn't get away with not getting in the water), then we decided to go to this hotel resort and use there pool for free (they do charge and carnival has it as an excursion also, I think it was like 99.99pp. Nobody was there checking for wristbands or anything so we just went in and had a blast!! Then we went to TreasureBay Casino and player there for a little while, had a nice lunch at this little restaurant and overall it was a good day!! Wouldn't really care to go back but it was nice, not that much stuff to do and see:( Freeport is the worse port when getting off the ship. Very unorganized and you wait in lines for so long. The trip took us about 20 minutes to get to Lucaya (where everyone goes) So the wait for taxis was horrible!! They don't have enough on the island to accommodate everyone!!

Overall it was a wonderful cruise!! I would do it again!!

Key west - MUST HAVE frozen chocolate dipped key lime cheesecake! Its a wow if you think you would like that sort of thing. We also took the conch train tour & toured the Hemingway House, really enjoyed both!! We were there for a few days and the only other thing we did was enjoy the restaurants, bars & shops on Duval st.. Most places give you your drinks in a plastic cup so you can take them to drink while you walk/stumble/crawl to the next bar!
