Embassy Suites Downtown Tampa

We used the Embassy during our only cruise out of Tampa three years ago. It's very close to the port (we watched the Legend come into port the morning of our embarkation from our hotel window) so travel time on that important morning of your cruise is minimal. And like all ES's, they have the evening manager's reception (free drinks and snacks) and the free breakfast. We didn't attempt to explore the area around the hotel other than to visit the Marriott nearby. Depending on what you want from a pre-cruise hotel, I think it's a wise choice just for the items I mention.

Yep, very good hotel with plenty of added perks as mentioned.

I prefer the Marriott a tad more because of the location, being right on the canal and for the lobby bar which makes top notch mojitos!!!

But the Es is a very good choice

The ES is the orange roofed high rise at the left center behind the marked mariott

There is a trolly stop right outside of the ES

you can ride the trolly to YBOR city to several good resturants, clubs, movies etc...

The florida aquarium is next to the carnival cruise dock

and channels side is a walking distance eating place with some good resturants

There is also a dinner cruise that leaves from the area of the carnival dock

all in all a pretty good area to stay in. Enjoy Tampa!
