KentuckyKat Posted July 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 22, 2011 We are leaving home this morning and as I was putting my luggage tag on my suitcase and preparing to load it in the car, I read the fine print and saw where it says each suitcase should not exceed 24x16 inches. When we travel we take one large hard-size suitcase for the two of us, but it is 31x21 inches. Do I need to find other suitcases and repack? MUDBALL Posted July 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 22, 2011 We always take a large suitcase. It's never been a problem. Have fun, not very often you leave Kentucky to get to someplace cooler.
YB Nrml Posted July 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted July 22, 2011 I would. Hate to have my whole vacation screwed because of luggage. Why risk it? Hope it works out, have a great cruise!

I have always taken larger than "recommended". Port porters just want their tips......they don't seem to care at all what size your bags are and the cruise line delivers it all to your room. Have a GREAT cruise!!!
ready2cruzagain Posted July 22, 2011 #5 Share Posted July 22, 2011 It should be 16"H x 24"W (no length restrictions) according to Carnivals website. Ours is 30" long by 20" wide and we have no problems whatsoever.
Bibble Posted July 22, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 22, 2011 Never seen that fine print, and also have never been under 24"...
BeccaBecca1713 Posted July 22, 2011 #7 Share Posted July 22, 2011 They are talking about width and height. Length can be whatever. Just give it to the porters as checked luggage. No probs. We always take a piece of luggage that's larger than that. Ps - Carnival only "encourages" that lugagge be that limit.
pjhootch Posted July 22, 2011 #8 Share Posted July 22, 2011 Our suitcase is huge because we pack just one for my husband and I. NO PROBLEM with the size. Take it and don't worry about it.
LHP Posted July 22, 2011 #9 Share Posted July 22, 2011 I believe the 24x16 is mainly enforced if you want to CARRY ON a suitcase... we have sailed with HUGE suitcases for years without an issue... no worries as long as you are checking it.... *Mach* Posted July 22, 2011 #10 Share Posted July 22, 2011 Not to worry... you'll be fine. All of the sizes indicated are recommended... not real restrictions. :)
