liftman Posted July 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2011 Can anyone help. Off to baltics on Oriana 7th Aug for 12 nights. Does anyone know what night formal night will be - there are 3 in total. Our guess is day 2 which is a full day ay sea, one of the St Petersburg nights and day 9 or 10 which are both days at sea . Just a quick question - what port would be best to eat 'al fresco' on the terrace? We think it might be Stockholm but would be interested to find out. Thanks, Brendan
tom_uk Posted July 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 26, 2011 Almost always, the evening of the first sea day - which is generally the second evening of the cruise - is the first formal night. Indeed, it's also the Captain's Gala night, and is generally the most formal night of the cruise. I can't help you with the other formal nights, I'm afraid. I'd be surprised if the evening in St Petersburg was a formal night, however.

liftman Posted July 27, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted July 27, 2011 Hi Brian, Thanks for the info on dining. Have you just done the Baltics cruise? Interested in knowing specific nights for formal nights so we can organise other dining options. Just don't want to book a speciality dining option on a formal night. Also, was there a tropical theme night as on the cruise personalised brochure it only states black & white ball and 60's/70's night?
BrianI Posted July 27, 2011 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2011 Hi Liftman, We did not have a tropical night on the Baltic cruise but would have though you would have one on the Canaries cruise. When you get to your cabin, there is a cruise overview leaflet which tells you the main events for the cruise duration, including dress codes for each day. Have a look at that and then you can book your speciality dining. You can't book this until you get on board anyway. The menu in the main restaurant is better on formal nights so agree with you its best to eat there on those nights. They may switch nights around, which they did on ours and we had to switch one of our speciality nights which was no problem. Brian
