sharing a water taxi in Venice

I think I know the answer to this but I am going to ask anyway. If we share a water taxi going from the port to different hotels, will the fare still be split among the passengers? Or would it be the whole price for each hotel stop? We'd be happy to share with someone going to a hotel near ours, but what are the chances we'd find someone going to the same one?

Your best bet might be going to the roll call for your sailing and ask there if anyone is going to your hotel after the cruise (or one very nearby, where you can walk). Then you could share the fare, which is generally a set fare to the location with *sometimes* extra added for extra people or luggage, but not much. I am sure someone would be happy to split the cost of the expensive water taxi. We did taxis both ways - from the Westin Europa and Regina to the ship, and from the ship to the Gritti Palace, I *think* it was about 70 or 80 euro each way for three of us with limited luggage. We could have easily fit two more people comfortably.

You do not have to go to the same hotel. We had 3 couples going to 3 hotels. There could be a small surcharge. Work it out with the guy with the telephonino at the desk.
