Smoker friendly hotel in Tampa?

I know we're a dying breed (literally) but I need a hotel that isn't going to make me run down to the lobby and outside just to have my morning cigarette. I don't smoke indoors, so all I need is a balcony.

I called the Marriot Waterside and the Embassy Suites Downtown directly.

The Marriot I know is totally smoke-free, but they have balcony rooms. I took a shot in the dark and I was told I could be removed from the hotel even if I smoke on the balcony. Fair enough.

The Embassy told me they only have a few balconys in the entire hotel, only 5 bona fide smoking rooms, and they can't guarantee me either until I get down there and check-in in November. She said it doesn't look likely that I'll get either because 1) our flight doesn't arrive until 7pm that night and they'll be long gone by then, and 2) we need two connecting rooms which reduces the chances to almost zero.

Does anybody have any suggestions? It has to be a nice modern place in a nice part of town. Cost isn't really much of a concern. 2 connecting rooms is a must as we're travelling with our 2 teenagers, and 1 is a girl. So between her and her mother we really really REALLY need that 2nd bathroom.

It doesn't even have to be down there near the port. I don't care where it is, or even if it has a free shuttle service. We can cab it from the airport, and then to the port without a wimper. All we need is some sort of restaurant/room service as I know we'll be dead tired by the time we get there. Airports and the flight itself wear me right out so going out for something to eat is something I'd prefer not to do.

(Before anybody voices their opinion on my smoking: I'm a courteous smoker. I don't even smoke in my own house or even my own vehicle. I haven't done either since my daughter was born 17 years ago. I will not smoke in my cabin on the ship either. I understand it bothers people and I totally agree. You'll get no argument from me. Even I hate a hotel room that reeks of smoke.)

Good luck. Most of the higher end and big chain hotels have gone completely smoke free. You seem to prefer this type of hotel so I would say your chances are slim. If you go to a smaller or lower end hotel you might have some luck.

The following Tampa hotels say they allow smoking or have smoking rooms.

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

Chase Suite Hotel

Also this site suggests 29 hotels that allow smoking in Tampa

Given that Florida is a clean air state I would imagine most hotels on this list have a few rooms avaiailble.
