There's no set rule but I would guess they'll do them after leaving Palermo and Barcelona; i.e. the benvenuto (welcome) and the arrivederci (bye-bye) dinners.

Hi New Texan, There is a mix of dinners we had two formal, one informal and the rest casual. The following happened last year on our cruise - boarding (Genoa) is casual night. Sunday Marseille = informal, Monday Barcelona is formal, Tuesday Tunis = casual, Wednesday Valleta = casual, Thursday Messina = Gala evening (formal), Friday Civitavecchia = casual.

They tend to have the first formal on the second night and the last on the second last. so my guess for your cruise would be Naples and Barcelona , as you are joining the cruise at Genoa (the main embarkation port). Capricruiser could also be correct as they may delay the first one until Palermo as there is an earlier departure time that day.
