Ok thanks! I guess Ill stay with RCL.. I think its disgusting that they allow smoking in the rooms...

 

I will say that on both of my NCL cruises there was not even a whiff of stale smoke in the room. However they neutralize it, is very effective.

 

I have to wonder though. Are you just looking to cause trouble with your last statement?

No..excuse us for answering your question factually and without being judgmental (heck...for all we knew you were a smoker and looking for a cruise line that allows smoking in the cabins), and then you make your totally uncalled for "disgusting" remark.

 

By the way, I'm a non-smoker...even better an ex-smoker, and I've never noticed a lingering odor of smoke in my cabin.

Please do...because on my last Royal Caribbean cruise a couple of months ago, the casino stunk so badly of cigarette smoke that I couldn't even walk through it, much less sit there and gamble.

If you really dislike cigarette smoke, there are cruise lines which currently or soon will have more restrictive policies. for a nonsmoker, Celebrity has an appeal with nonsmoking cabins, nonsmoking balconies and nonsmoking casino. Sail any cruise line that makes you happy. RCCL's policy is in the middle of the pack.

njhorseman- I am very sensative to the smell of smoke.. and I do agree with you with the smoke in the casino.. I cant stay in there more then 10 minutes without my eyes tearing up and my nose running... and i love to gamble.. thats why i play only late at night and stay till they close.. its not has bad.. also I tend to go on the newer ships.. i was on the allure in January and the casino wasnt so bad.. Im just concerned with the stale smoke smell in the rooms..

Celebrity has the most restrictive smoking policy of the mass market lines. No smoking in cabins, balconies or any public room except one lounge. The casino is totally smoke free. And, from what they've been reporting on Celebrity's board here, if you continue to smoke, despite being warned, they can, and will, throw people off the ship. It supposedly happened on Solstice a few weeks ago when they threw a whole family off the ship because of smoking.

Smoking is a hot button issue here. Was wondering if you knew that, and were "stirring the pot." Apparently not, but you wouldn't have been the first.....

Yes I am aware of it.. but like I said I stated my opinion.. and all I said was its digusting.. not a big deal.. someone posted awhile back that they didnt understand why woman would hi lite there hair and have to different shades... I dont remember word to word but he did say it was grotesque... I do have hi lites and low lites.. and I did not take any offense to it.. I simply replied why I do it.. and he was quite cool about it.. and he thanked me for enlighting him on the subject.. Just goes to show you how different people are..lol

This is something new! I had no idea, was under impression smoking is not allowed in the cabins.

 

We cruised twice with NCL, US and Europe, and didn't feel anything in the cabin! We are both non-smokers, and sensitive to the smell. If a smoker was in the cabin before us, we didn't feel it.

 

Hmmm... are you sure smoking is allowed in the cabins? We had window cabins both times.

Carnival Spa cabins do not allow smoking on either the balcony or in the cabins so that is another option for you...only a few of the ships offer this type of cabin at the time...

 

I am a non smoker and I have to tell you that on RCCL one of my favorite hang outs is the Irish Pub but it seems that everyone on the ship that smokes that isn't gambling goes there to smoke, I couldn't go inside one time on the Oasis...

FYI I was on a recent NCL cruise. I wound up getting off fairly late at disembarkation for some reason. A supervisor was coming around and checking on every cabin. Any cabin that had someone smoking ALL the linen covers and everything changeable was to removed and replaced and special attention was to be given to make it smoke free for the next cruise. he wrote down each cabin where there was a smoker and said a special team would check on that cabin before the next cruise.

symer! That is fantastic news!!! I only cruised with NCL once back in 04.. I actually gotten hurt so I dont remember to much of the cruise.. and I dont remember the rooms smelling of smoke.. but I will make sure when I book it I will tell them we are nonsmokers and to disinfect the room.. also I read somewhere on here there is a special spray you can buy to kill the oder.. I think you can buy it on amazon or in a hardware store.. Im gonna have to research it.. Kuddos to Celebrity for there non smoking policy..but Iv heard there more of an older crowd.. I will have to look into it..

What about smoking on the ship?

We want you to be comfortable on board, so public areas throughout all NCL ships are smoke free. If you smoke cigarettes, you can do so in your stateroom, on your balcony, in the casino or Cigar Bar (where available). If you prefer pipes or cigars, you can smoke in the Cigar Bar or designated smoking lounge. Also, you can smoke cigarettes, pipes and cigars outside on open decks (just not around food venues, sport decks, kids' pool areas and other designated non-smoking areas). Cigar and pipe smoking inside your stateroom or on your balcony is prohibited.

I wasn't responding to you...as you can see I quoted a post from Dayenu.

 

It's not asking the initial question that was the problem...and in fact I answered your original question 10 minutes after you posted it. My objection is after I answered the question, and after another poster provided a link to the NCL FAQ at the same time as I made my post, someone comes along two days later and essentially says "I don't believe you", and that really burns me up, because it happens far too often.

Yes, I am a smoker....NCL does allow smoking in designated areas of the ship and in your cabin and balcony. To be considerate of others, I usually smoke on my balcony when no one is out on either side of me, if someone is out, I ask if they mind, and if so I refrain from smoking until they are off their balcony. As far as in my cabin, my friend is a non smoker so I don't smoke in the cabin. There's a give an take to both sides, just be courteous to your neighbors who might be nonsmokers.;)
