zurich hotel

we stayed at the Hotel Arlete, which was listed in Rick Steves Swiss travel book. I thought it was kinda expensive, & the breakfast was small, but it is within a 5 minute walk to the train station, & also you can walk to some old alleys which are full of restaurants etc. We chose it, due to the proximity to the train station, as we were traveling by train. It was clean & the rooms were adequate.

I'd recommend the Zurich Hilton. It's about a 5 minutes ride from the Zurich airport, and they have a shuttle bus that will come get you if you call from the airport. We had rented a car at the airport when we landed because we wanted to drive to Basel for our cruise, but it was only one exit along the freeway to get from the airport to the hotel. To get to a train station, you can go back to the airport where a metro connects you to the downtown train station if that's how you're getting to Basel. The Hilton is a large "american-style" hotel and what you'd expect from a Hilton. We found ALL hotels in Switzerland expensive, so be ready for sticker shock.
