Jewel out of Boston

Recommended Posts

Anybody been on this itinerary?? Looking for suggestions on shore excursions. - Thanks.

;)

We sailed the New England/Canada itinerary on Jewel just last year and had a great time. Among the highlights are the tour of Arcadia National Park in Bar Harbor (the only tender port on this itinerary) and most any of the excursions in Halifax (especially the one to Peggy's Cove) or the Duck boat that takes you around downtown Halifax, up to the Citadel and into the harbor. Pier 21 is an interesting museum dedicated to the people who first landed here in Canada from Europe and other lands, and the Maritime Museum which is within walking distance of the cruise terminal has a fascinating Titanic exhibit among other things. A sail of Halifax harbor can be booked right at the docks along the boardwalk that runs from Pier 21 down to the Casino Nova Scotia.

Highly recommend renting bikes on your own in Bar Harbor and riding through Acadia National Park. This day was the highlight of our cruise on Jewel. Stop when you want, take pictures where you want. Return the bikes to town and walk around there - it's a quaint little town with plenty of shops.

That's ACADIA National Park. I know because my daughter loved that port stop so much that she named her cat Acadia. :D
