Corkage Fee....

Only if you take it to dinner. If you drink it in your cabin there is no charge.

 

The only exception that I know (and I know it doesn't apply to this particular case) is NCL. I believe you have to pay the corkage fee when you board regardless of where you plan on drinking the wine.

It depends on the cruise line.

I don't know about Carnival but on NCL you pay when you board. If you don't drink the wine, you can stand on a line & get a refund.

"Corkage" fee is a misnomer. It's not about the labor to open your bottle. It's a way to recapture some of the revenue lost when you BYO.
