Ms. T Posted August 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2011 If I bring my own wine on the cruise and cork screw, do I still have to pay a corkage fee? __________________ "] [/url]
Zada Posted August 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2011 As I understand it, if you consume the wine in the dining room OR supper club, you will pay the corkage fee, no matter who opens the wine. Having a corkscrew available to open it in your room to enjoy pre-dinner, for example, you wouldn't pay anything.
kroozers Posted August 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2011 I'm not a wine drinker, but I've read posts from others who have opened their own bottles. Some have paid the corkage fee and others haven't. It seems to be hit and miss. I'm sure others will chime in.
Justsyd Posted August 8, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2011 The Corkage Fee is for when you take an unopened bottle of wine to the MDR. They will open the wine, serve it to you, store it, and serve you each night until it is gone. If you enjoy the wine in your room, or bring a glass of wine to the MDR, there is no fee. Unopened OR opened! If you take it to the MDR you are subject to the corkage fee. As indicated - take a big glass full instead :-)
ladybug526 Posted August 8, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 8, 2011 when we went on the Legend last October we brought two bottles of wine to the MDR, they opened, served and stored them for us and we were not charged a corkage fee. Bringing another two bottles in November and hoping the same thing happens.
Traveling Gram Posted August 8, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 8, 2011 We have always brought our own wine to dinner (opened) but never had a fee until this July on Triumph. We were a big group and each night brought two bottles of wine to share. Our waiter chilled the bottle and eventually said we would be charged the $10 because the maitre'd had seen the bottles and she didn't want to get into trouble for not charging us but... we only had one charge and brought our bottles each night as she said she would only charge us one time.
