CinWay Posted August 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2011 I've just booked my first Celebrity cruise (first cruise ever actually). I was searching for this information and can't really finda clear answer so.... on port days, are the dining/bar or other things to do on the ship limited. For example is it just the buffet that is available? Are there other things to do if you decide to stay in the ship. - Thanks in advance.
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2011 The MDR is closed for lunch on port days. The buffet, hamburger grill, Aqua Spa are all open as usual. Also Cafe al Bacio (Cafe Cova on some ships) and Bistro on 5 (again, not every ship has this yet) are open. Bars are open, except in France. There are fewer "organized" activities -- ping pong, golf putting, trivia, name that tune, dance lessons, scrapbooking, and so forth but there are always some for those who choose to stay on board. The spa and hair salon are all open, and sometimes there are some spa specials for port days. The shops and casino are closed while in port. Gonzo70 Posted August 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2011 The main dining room closes for lunch during port days and the ship's shops and casino are likewise closed. The buffet and grill by the pool are open (and I believe the Aqua Spa Cafe). Room service is also available. The pools and gym and spa are open as is the library. There are some activities scheduled, but significantly less than there would be during a sea day. If you are on an S-Class ship, then the Lawn Club area is open for activities such as bocce ball, golf putting, croquet etc. Some of the bars will be open while the ship is in port.
