Dining for a group of 9?

Hello,

This will be our first time cruising with Norwegian and we're curious about the "anytime dining." We will be a group of nine... are we going to have trouble getting a table with a large group like this? Or is it possible to make a reservation for the group in the main dining rooms as to not have to wait?

Thank you!

We were a group of 8 and had no issues, they have lots of big tables. You can't reserve in the main dining. Since we had an 85 and a 1 year old we didn't want them to wait so we had it down to a science. One person would put our name in then a few mins later 3-4 more would head over since they won't seat until half the party is present. Then I would head over with gram and dd. But since we had said 85 and 1yr old with us we were on the early bird timing of dinner and never had more than a ten min wait, if that.

Edit: Boo, no one told us we could make a reservation for 8!

On NCL Spirit in July our party of up to nine only had to wait once - and that was for just a couple of minutes. Didn't make reservations.

We dined in the main dining rooms.

They had several long tables for bigger groups back towards the windows in the largest main dining room and in the smaller main dining room they pushed tables together when we requested it.

Congratulations on taking your first NCL cruise!

We were a party of 10 on the Sun in April, we usually went to dinner around 5:30, we never waited for a table and we always requested a certain waiter. So we were impressed with the service and speed. I didn't know about being able to make reservations so I can't help you on that one.

On the Freestyle Daily that was posted today from the Jewel July 30, 2011 - Day 1 on the front page, center towards bottom of page it says, "Restaurant Advisory: We kindly ask that you make a reservation if you are dining with a big group.(Then goes on to explain Kids prices.)

Had 11 in a group and never waited long. We are early eaters

We were a group of 11 an had to split up....but then we were trying for the "late" dining time. We just decided to go to specialty restaurants for the remainder of the cruise after having so many problems the two times we attempted the main dining room.

Guess every experience/cruise is different!

We always had a big group. 12 or more. When it was 16-18, we usually had to split at 2 tables, but 12 or less usually was fine.

In the main dining rooms, they would only give group reservations for times before 6:15 or after 8:30....not during the prime dining hours of 6:15-8:15. But it didn't matter to us as we are early eaters.
