If you have 2 adults you can bring the one box of wine for both of you. I did clear this and the one box comes out to the same amount of two 750 ml.

I would print that out and take it with you just in case the word did not get passed down to the port security agents, who are not employed by Carnival.

Carnival does not make this distinction on their website. I think that woman just made up that number to you. I guarantee if you call Carnival 3 times, you'll get 3 different answers.

Well since Mary works in Miami for CCL take a wander over to Funville and ask her yourself.

There are many things not updated on the CCL site and this is one of them.

As for me and mine we are not taking chances having things confiscated because others have gotten away with it does not mean everyone will.

To continually tell people Oh it's OK ... just like that other subject I don't even open threads about .. yep the dreaded smuggling threads.

No ones' "getting away" witrh anything re: the soda question. Carnival is the one saying it's okay, based on saying "pack of 12 per person." It doesn't state "pack of 12 (20 oz max)per person" on their FAQs page.

If she works in the beards offices, then she needs to go a step further and get it changed on the website.

In the meantime, I will refer to what the FAQs on Carnival's webpage states vs. one person sitting behind a computer in Miami.

this was posted on John Heald's blog on Aug 4th. Water is counted the same as any non-alcoholic drink aka soda!:

Barbara Stone asked:

John,

On the 12 bottles of water that you are allowed to bring on board can they be liter size?

John says:

Hello Barbara Stone,

Yes, indeed they can. Rather heavy though I think to carry on the ship? Please let me know if you need anything else.

Best wishes.

John

We've always checked our small suitcase that we put sodas and water bottles in.

Never had a problem besides having to go pick it up in the "naughty room" one time because they thought we had alcohol. But no confiscating sodas or water.

Just easier for me than having to carry it on on top of everything else I have in my hand luggage.

The CCL FAQ's have been updated ..

SOFT DRINKS ARE 20oz LIMIT

Hi Everyone,

The FAQ has been updated and I think John will be posting a correction on his blog later on today. You should know we're always right. [;) Just kidding!

Here you go:

A liquor and beverage consumption policy was created in order for Carnival to be able to control the liquor consumption of minors and the quantities consumed that lead to the disruptive behavior of others on board.

Liquor and Beverage Policy

Bringing Alcohol On Board - Embarkation Day:

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board. However, at the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring on board one bottle (750ml) of wine or champagne, per person, only in their carry-on luggage. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the main dining room; $14 corkage fee per bottle in the steakhouse. (A corkage fee is a charge exacted at a restaurant for every bottle of liquor served that was not bought on the premises)

On embarkation day, each guest may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages on board and only in their carry-on luggage. A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 bottles and/or cans, 20 ounces each or less.

All alcohol/hard liquor/beer (sealed, unopened bottles/cans), wine/champagne over the allowable 1-bottle per guest (sealed, unopened bottles) or excessive quantities of non-alcoholic beverages (over 12 per person, sealed, unopened bottles/cans) will be confiscated and stored for safekeeping until the end of the voyage. The retained item(s) will be available for collection in onboard designated location on the morning of debarkation. Unsealed liquids that are prohibited will be discarded, as well as any unclaimed items left after the voyage, and no compensation will be given in either case.

Large cooler restrictions:

Carnival Cruise Lines does not allow guests to bring large coolers on board its ships. However small, personal-sized coolers, no larger than 12”H x 12”L x 12”W for the purpose of housing small quantities of non-alcoholic beverages and/or medications are permitted as carry-on luggage. Screening and movement of large coolers through embarkation is an impediment to the boarding and security screening process. Therefore, large coolers are not permitted as carry-on or checked luggage.

Ports-of-Call:

Alcoholic beverages of any kind purchased in any Port-of-Call will be retained at the gangway, stored on board and held by Carnival until the end of the voyage.

Gift Shops On Board:

Alcoholic beverages of any kind purchased in the ship's gift shop will be stored on board and be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage.

Drinking Alcohol On Board:

The minimum age for the purchase and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the bars, lounges and gift shops is 21 years of age. In the event that Bar/Restaurant/Gift Shop staff are in question that a guest is less than 21 years old, they shall request picture identification, prior to serving the drink or selling the bottle of liquor.

Carnival reserves the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone.

That is doubtful although she does read over here. She was keeping the FunVille forums informed as to why it was not yet updated.

lol..I was just joking.

Back before the Carnival forums opened up Mischelle use to post over here from time to time. She helped me out with an issue I had about 5 years ago.
