Another Curious Thing.

In today's press there are two separate advertisements for westbound TA's.

One on QM2 departing Soton Jan 6th and one on Queen Elizabeth departing Soton Jan 10th. As Senior management has what we must refer to as 'A Significant Birthday' in January these trips are of interest to us. However, a quick check on the Cunard site reveals that there are no TA's listed in January.

Now presumably these trips are the initial phase of the 2012 World Cruises but why, if travel agents can advertise the TA portion of the WC on two ships, are they not listed on the Cunard site?

Also we are interested in an offer by a travel agent for a segment of the WC from Hong Kong to Soton. This again is not offered by Cunard, the nearest to it is the Singapore to Soton segment.

Somebody out there must understand this conundrum.

Of course the sensible thing to do is to just book with the TA which is what I will do but I am just curious as to how the Cunard site works and I would like to track these voyages as to price fluctuations.

A Mystified Gari.

Hi, Gari.

You may wish to recheck that Jan 6, 2012 departure from Soton on QM2. Unless I am looking at it wrong, I am seeing QM2 doing an Eastbound Transatlantic from New York to Soton, Jan 3-10, 2012. She then departs Soton on Jan 10 for her 2012 World Cruise.

I share your curiosity concerning why World Cruise segments are not listed on Cunard's website. I seem to recall seeing them listed prior years, but as you have found, they are not listed on the Cunard web site now.

Other cruise booking web sites do list the World Cruise segments, so the best I can suggest for tracking prices on those segments is to check some of those other web sites.

Regards,

John.

Thanks John, I have just received an email pointing out the same thing. I am definitely correct in quoting the advert so I guess the paper must have it wrong. But another paper also states that the QE is departing Soton for NYC on Jan 10th 2012. ????

Yes, the QE is departing Soton for NYC on Jan 10, 2012 as the first segment of her 2012 World Cruise. That part is correct.

According to the schedules I am seeing, the QM2 is also departing Soton on Jan 10, 2012 for the first segment of her 2012 World Cruise. She will be heading toward Cape Town.

John.

Well if she's going to Cape Town I guess NYC might be just too much of a diversion. Looks like I'll have to roll across in the QE if I decide to go. Although looking at the Cunard brochure I got from the future travel people on board in July even that does not mention any WB TA in Jan. Just a note to say it's a world voyage and contact the Sales specialist for further info.

VOYAGE Q203 Seems easily available on the Cunard website to me. Agreed it is shown as the 1st leg of the World Voyage but that is what it is. If you enter QE for January 2012 it comes up quite easily.

Thanks, Trevor.

I do see now that the individual World Voyage segments are indeed listed on the Cunard web site. I completely missed the "select sector" prompt displayed within the description of the QE's 2012 World Voyage which offers the selection of 12 different segments including "Southampton, England - New York, America". At least that's how it works on the US web site. Mea culpa for not looking more closely.

John.
