Botanical Gardesn in Kauai

We are interested in going to one or two of the National Trpical Botanical Gardens (www.ntpg.org) while we are in Kauai Dec 16th (POA cruise).

 

Has anyone been there before? If so, can you offer suggestions on the best way to get there, i.e., taxi or rent a car? Is it far from the pier?

 

We would like to go early on the 16th so we can enjoy the gardens and get back to the ship by 12 noon.

 

Any informations or recommenations would be greatly appreciated.
