Better Snorkeling and Diving - Nassau or Grand Turk??

I like to snorkel and my husband is a diver. If you had to choose - would it be better to snorkel in Grand Turk or Nassau? What about diving - which place do you recommend? We are looking at mid December time frame and trying to plan some excursions. Are there companies that you would recommend or should we just book excursions through Carnival?

Of the two, for diving, I would choose Grand Turk. When I was there on a Carnival cruise, I opted for an independent dive operator that I can't recommend.

Islandwoman, I know this is an older post, but can you tell me who you used that you wouldn't recommend? I'm getting ready to book our dives and don't want a bad experience! Thanks.
