Bathingsuits and Coverups

Recommended Posts

Does any1 recommend getting cute coverups for going to the pool from the room. Or do most people end up wearing the bathingsuit under cloths for the day and go from pool to the next ********. Not sure if I should spend $ on a coverup or not. Thanks.

If you want to wear your suit under clothes. Its perfectly fine. Its much easier for me under a cover-up..Depending on the suit,a wrap around will do,or one of those big T-shirt like cover-ups.Some people wear cover-ups to the windjammer, which I prefer not to do...Unless it looks more like a dress than a cover-up...

I usually use one of those sleeveless summer dresses instead of a bathing suit cover up, that way there is no questions regarding the windjammer cafe or any of the bars or shops on board.

Lands End has cut coverups- the look more like a sleeveless T dress than a bathing suit cover up. This is just my opinion but I think it's inappropriate to wear just a swimsuit in public places. This is a result of upbringing. My mom wouldn't let us go from the pool to the front yard without a cover up on. So take it for what it's worth. :D But even in many of the relaxed Caribbean nations I've been to, most resorts request some type of cover up in public areas.

You can get some CUTE CUTE coverups on e-bay for a VERY good price. That's where I get a LOT of my cruise gear. :)

Seller = stvincent offers some CUTE little outfits, I have about 4. They range a little higher, but they are HIGH quality and as you can see, they're a little "more" than a regular cover-up! Take a look.

member961209 on e-bay offers cover-ups and things starting LESS THAN A DOLLAR! No kidding, just watch her shipping prices, she doesn't combine shipping so look for that.

Hope this helps and HAVE FUN!

Personally, I prefer sandals on sea days. As to where you can't wear the cover up, well, you're too young to gamble so we don't have to worry about the casino. :D You can eat in the Windjammer as long as you are wearing shoes and a coverup, but they won't let you in the dining room for any meal.

I wear a jean skirt or shorts and a cotton top with the skinny straps over my swimsuit. This is appropriate for walking around the ship and the Windjammer during the day.

Off topic, but I noticed your signature is as crazy as mine. I finally "met" someone who is as addicted to cruising as me! And we both started cruising around the same time. What did you think of Princess? We really liked them.

I like pareos with a big lightweight shirt on top. I wouldn't wear it if I were going to the casino or even going to the windjammer but it's nice for just putting along the ship on the way to the room. I don't care for the sundress types. I wore my sister's on our last cruise in Oct. and never even knew I had a big ole wet spot on my behind until we got to the room! I know it's probably obvious that it's from a wet bathingsuit but I still don't think it's the most appealing thing to look at

If you go to the cruise fashion area of the board you'll find a ton of threads about coverups if you do a search there. Good luck!

I bought two very cute dress-type cover ups at Kohl's last year when all their summer stuff was on clearance. Because they look just like sundresses, I would wear them into the buffet for breakfast or lunch (assuming, of course, that I was completely dry -- I wouldn't go around with wet spots on my cover up!). I also have some tee-shirt type cover ups from Lands' End that are nice, but not as fancy as the new ones.

Newport News has dozens of cover-ups on their site. Reasonable prices too. I prefer to wear a tank dress or shorts and a tshirt over my suit. That way, I don't feel like I have to change clothes in order to move on to the next ********.

OT...funny, I didn't think anyone really looked at my signature...I call cruising "my healthy addiction". I'm trying to limit cruises to two per year. To answer your question about Princess, I liked Princess. I especially liked the price for that particular cruise vs. RCCL. It was fun to try a different cruiseline. I went with a very open mind. I thought shows and food were compariable to RCCL. RCCL is still my preference for no particular reason. On Princess I enjoyed the large screen, especially the movies under the stars, and the anytime dining. Since I was with my kids on this cruise, we also liked the pizza by the pool. My teenage daughter also prefers RCCL. LOL...she loves JR and the soft serve ice cream. I go on an annual trip with friends in Jan/Feb. In 2006 we are going on Celebrity for the first time.
