SteveH2508 Posted August 23, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2011 There are thousands - narrow it down a bit and we might be able to help. What price, type of cuisine and location for starters.

dizzy1948 Posted August 26, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2011 For something a bit different - you could try the Medievil Banquet. That is a great night - King Henry etc - minstrels - wenches - jesters - Anne Bolyn - the whole box and dice. It is near Tower Bridge - sorry I can't be more specific - someone else might know the exact spot - but it is a superb night out with a difference - and though I can't remember the exact cost - it wasn't expensive. You get beer in jugs - wine in caraffe's - rip bread apart and dip it in soup - cold meat platter - just good old english fayre. Plenty of old English songs - everything like that, just great. We saw the advert for it in a brochure that we picked up in the train station. You need to book - but a great night. You can even hire a costume at he venue if you wish. Bet & Peg Posted August 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 26, 2011 As a complete opposite to the Banquet above, a very "serious" old world restaurant is Rules - pricy but very English! It bills itseld as London's Oldest restaurant. Located just a block off the Strand its a good location for most theaters. http://www.rules.co.uk/ If you like Thai food, The Blue Elephant is my favorite - great food in a lovely setting. Easy metro ride a just about 2/3 block walk or major buses pass by. http://www.blueelephant.com/london/ London's Chinatown is small but lots of good late night places - also all day!! Can't recommend any specific place but it area is near theaters and most are open late so very convenient. And you must just stop on a pub for real "pub grub" - especially if this is your first time in London!!! Don't miss the Fish 'n Chips or Ploughman's Platter (think that's the name) or meat pies. WOW I'm gettign hungry just writing this - have a great trip!!!!!

St Katherines Dock - nearest tube is Tower Hill or alternatively Tower River Boat stop or Tower Gateway on the DLR. Also at St Katherines Dock is the Dickens Inn - great mega-sized pizzas on a budget!

truffles68 Posted September 17, 2011 #10 Share Posted September 17, 2011 On our recent trip to London (post cruise) we ate at Dinner by Heston in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Both the food & service were excellent.
