Ocean players club question.

Does anyone know if it's true that they look at what you've spent the last 2 years to determine what comps. you get? I thought it was just the amnt. spent on the last cruise you took? So confused...
I can't give you a direct answer, and I'm not sure that anyone can. Casinos tend to be rather vague about these things. In my case, I didn't ask to be rated until my last cruise. I called the Princess Players' Club , gave them my details, and they've given me a cash comp. What I get on the ship will be known next week when I sail.

All they asked for was my last booking number and my current booking number. So I would guess they just look at your last cruise.

Hey Andy, we want to hear about a great winning cruise when you return. Good Luck!!!

I can only comment on my situation. Your results may vary. I spoke with Serena from VIP services. They use your point total over the past 2 years to determine your level of comps. As long as you achieve the minimum of 1000 points your play is tracked. This is only for slot players. How they rate table players is a mystery that only the pit bosses know. The more you cruise within that 2 year period the better your comps. Just make the 1000 points and then on your next cruise, email them and see what they can offer. It never hurts to ask.

Don't feel bad being confused. DH and I just returned from Carnival Splendor cruise. Let me preface by saying we are slot players. Usually penny slots and sometimes nickels, but daily cruise casino visitors.

We were pleasantly surprised with a BIG beautiful fruit, cheese and bottle of wine basket when we arrived to our stateroom. The next night, we received a free photo coupon delivered by our cabin steward. We chose our photo the last night and because we had $3.00 left over they threw in a nice photo album.

What was confusing for us is that when we called the given phone number

we were told, sorry not enough carnival points, however after hanging up realized he had given an incorrect last sailing. So called back about 15 minutes later hoping that might make a difference. This time she gave me our princess cruises too and with combined total, said we qualified for a minimum gift. btw, also sent e-mail on their web site and never heard back from them. So, aside from points maybe it's just the luck of the draw. Good luck!!

Don't really know their rules for decision making ? Last 2 cruises (and up-coming in November), I called them pre-cruise and was pleasantly advised

that $100.00 would be awarded to me from casino cashier and free drinks in the casino.Sometimes some chocolate covered strawberry's in room with

a note from casino mgr. Very nice but don't know how they calculate:confused:

I just talked to Princess to see if I qualified for any comps. The rep only wanted to know my last cruise (Oct '10) and my next booking (Oct '11). I did receive a $75.00 casino credit to be picked up in the casino. Not sure how they determine this or if anything else will be offered during the cruise (free drinks?).

Not bad for just a phone call.

Carnival has the "drinks on us" program on many of the ships. After 1500 pts you get free drinks. DW actually pre-qualified based on previous cruise and had a card waiting for her when we boarded.

How did you get pre-qualified? We were on Carnival Dream last Feb. and did earn our drink cards pretty early. Thanks for any info. it saved big time in free drinks.

I emailed Carnival about hearing of people getting drinks on us card before playing and I was told its impossible. Its crazy that they lie!! My last sign and sail bill was over $8000 and I was told I will get $450 in cage cash plus all the cabin goodies ,but My opinion its not enough. Why is Carnival so cheap with comps

We're back!!! The cruise was great, but not winning:mad: This was a transatlantic Southampton to New York, and the demographic didn't contain many casino players. In truth, the casino was dead. So dead, that since I won't play alone at a craps table, I only played craps twice for short periods. We're late diners (8:15 fixed seating) and though the casino seemed to have some action when we walked through on the way to dinner, by the time we got there, it was quiet. Blackjack had a few regulars besides us, bot only two other players who played more than a half hour or so, They tended to close at 1 AM.

My personal record was poor! In the 17 days of the cruise, I would guess we had about 25 sessions. Only three or four were really hot. Half were so-so and the rest were bad, bad, bad!

Casino personnel were great - with one exception they enjoyed their work. I have vision limitations, so when we play together, I sit next to DW and she calls the dealer's up card for me. Most of the dealers picked this up quickly, and called their card without me asking!

Comps were the usual Princess variety, cash $150 (called Players Club a few weeks before the cruise), plate of chocolate covered strawberries and two bottles of water delivered to the cabin with a nice note. The first night, when I sat down and played green, the floor manager came over and asked me for my cruise card. They all called us by name.

In sum: we had a generally good time in every way except financially;)

Next cruise in seven months.

We have never sailed princess but I though Carnival was bad with comps and freebies. Our last cruise was a big bill for us but I really liked the casino host she comped us alot. When we arrived we had if I can remember two bottles of water ,friut and cheese basket with wine,I think 8 drink coupons,3 picture coupons, choc covered strawberries 2 days when we returned from port and one day we had some sort of candy delivered by room service.two nights in the dining room we had a bottle of wine one day and a bottle of champagne .Im guessing I lost $5000 plus last cruise.Sorry about the bad luck

It is up in the air with Carnival's program. I've been offered $1250 at a high to $150 at a low within the same time period for no reason at all.

Do yourself a favor though. If you are offered cash back - get it in writing even through an email as I've seen and have had experiences where the cash cage and the player's club didn't communicate and it took 2 days to get it straightened out. It gets very frustrating!

For Carnival, in the past, it has been an accumulation of the past 2 years worth of points. More recently, I am hearing it is based solely on your last cruise.

In regards to the "Drinks on Us" card: You need 1,000 points on a 5 day cruise and 1,500 points on a 7 day cruise. I have never noticed, but I have heard that the point requirement to automatically earn the card when you board the ship is 3,500 points or 5,000 points earned on your previous cruise.

For comps, as said before, they look at your point balance. They can combine the balance of yourself and other cabinmates to determine your 'comps' for the cabin. Your package can include a fruit basket, cheese + fruit, wine, photo coupons, chocolate covered strawberries, cash in the casino, etc. HOWEVER, last month the casino host told me they are no longer doing the photo coupons, as there were some discrepancies between the departments.

Also - they do mail out the casino rewards from time to time, which can be a specific 'premiere' cruise + cash or cash + a discount on any cruise you book.

Crusin'Doc - I'm not sure about the Drinks on Us card but it does seem that they base the comps off of the last cruise you were on. It also seems like they have a bit of discretion in determining what they will actually offer you.

Regarding the free photo coupon - now that you mention it - on our last cruise we didn't get them. I just figured it was because it was a 'premiere' cruise and they had too many players on the ship and that's why we didn't get them. We usually give them to other cruisers anyway so we didn't miss them.

I will say that it was the first time we went on the 'premiere' cruise booked with Carnival rather than a junket club. Although the comps were great - I doubt that we will ever do it again. The main reason is that the casino was packed so badly that you had to wait for a table or machine often. I love a busy casino but one where you have to compete for space and then for service while in the casino is a bit crazy!

I can tell you what the casino host told me on my last RCL cruise. It is the amount you play on your last cruise -- that is, time spent playing and $$ spent.

Players club told me that they rate the last cruise, no further back than 2 years. First call got $25 for me and $75 for DH... second call got an additional bottle of wine, waters, fruit tray and 'other special treats' to be delivered for our 12 day Med cruise next month.

We pay 3-card poker, a little craps... no slots. Mostly minimum bets, but we do tip the dealers (and encourage other players by explaining the side-bets) and always tip the wait staff - especially for comp drinks. The pit supervisors notice and show their appreciation by keeping the drinks coming.
