mickide Posted March 23, 2011 #2751 Share Posted March 23, 2011 Have fun Matey's! Can't wait to hear about it when you get back ;). Rich & Marie - I'll be here to keep you company :)!
NMCruiser55 Posted March 23, 2011 #2752 Share Posted March 23, 2011 To those leaving on a cruise- Have fun. :) Sorry to hear Esther won't be joining us. Cozumel is the only Mexican port that I like. Since I can see Mexico from I-10, I'm not that interested in visiting. Rich, if you're still in the painting mood, I have a few rooms that need painting. :D

satex Posted March 23, 2011 Author #2754 Share Posted March 23, 2011 Good afternoon SMDers. Good bye and safe travel to all our SMDers cruising this coming week with Janet and Judie on the Matey's cruise. Have fun and enjoy yourselfs:D. Kathy - just finished the kitchen. Sorry, but I don't think I'm going to be painting anything anytime some. The bathroom and kitchen really do look good, as they should! Vicki - yup, your still here for another 2 months before you get to sail away. Are you doing the Carnival Spirit to Alaska? Marie - see we have others to keep us company. CAthY p - WE MISS YOU! I know know much you and Kenny are enjoying Florida as the weather in Florida is much like that here in south Texas this time of year. Got to get some running around done, so until later. She-ra Posted March 24, 2011 #2755 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Wow! It is really quiet here with the Mateys gone. Hello to Rich, Marie, CathyP, Kathy, Vicki, and anyone else still hanging around. -Sherri
satex Posted March 24, 2011 Author #2756 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Hi Sherri. Busy day and now its time to relax and watch the Spurs. Y'all have a good night.
mickide Posted March 24, 2011 #2757 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Vicki - yup, your still here for another 2 months before you get to sail away. Are you doing the Carnival Spirit to Alaska? We are going on the Norwegian Pearl. I was having a difficult time finding the itinerary we wanted (Inside Passage - Seattle to Seattle) on Carnival during May. And my husband is super casual and I knew that I'd never get him in the dining room if he had to dress up. So we're trying "freestyle" cruising. We ended up getting a great rate and nice OBC so it worked out. My previous two cruises were on RCCL and Carnival. I LOVED cruising with Carnival. I'm so hoping that I'm not disappointed on NCL. Hubby has nothing to compare it to since he didn't go on my first two and for him, it's all about Alaska so he will probably love it. I'll probably be comparing LOL. Koval Posted March 24, 2011 #2758 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Good Morning SMDer's Not really for me, I have a head ache and have to get moving and go to work :( Oh well, I hope it goes away, other wise it is going to be a very long day or maybe a short one as I will throw up and go home again LOL we'll see Sure hope not the latter as I am on Penicillin for an abscessed tooth and that will be nasty if it comes back up. Maybe it is a good thing I am not going on the Matey cruise, I would not be up to par... Ok off to get ready for work... See ya Later...

satex Posted March 24, 2011 Author #2760 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Good morning SMDers. Marie - sorry to hear that your not feeling well. Maybe you should go home just for the comfort;). Got a question for you. West was asking about the kind of deck party (if they have one) on the Alaska cruise and I would like to know, was there any time onboard that they served Alasken king crab (I'm have some somewhere on this cruise:p). Vicki - I've heard both good and bad about Norwegian's freestyle cruising. Just like reading some of the reviews on CC when you read two reviews on the same cruise. You kind of wonder if the two different reviewers were of the same cruise. I just make it my own as I'm sure you will. I guess Cathy p must be out at the pool again. Koval Posted March 24, 2011 #2761 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Vicki, thanks, but it is not to bad, and the head each is under control Rich, not sure about the deck party, I will have to look in the fun times. A quick look, I didn't see a deck party any night Sorry I was with Nick and he is not a big Party person, and this was his cruise, so I tried to do what ever he wanted. They did have crab one night, but I was not all that impressed, Didn't seem to be Alaskan King Crab legs as they were pretty small.
NMCruiser55 Posted March 24, 2011 #2762 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Marie - Hope you are feeling better. Vicki- I'm sure you will have fun. The scenery is great! I don't think the mass cruise lines serve King crab. Not sure about luxury lines.
mickide Posted March 24, 2011 #2763 Share Posted March 24, 2011 I was with Nick and he is not a big Party person, and this was his cruise, so I tried to do what ever he wanted. Alaska must be a guy thing :p. This is the first cruise I'm going on with Mark and it's his thing. He chose the destination and I chose the mode of transportation! I prefer sunshine to snow, but it's his turn...I've done a couple without him and will let him know soon that I'm doing this one with you all LOL. satex Posted March 24, 2011 Author #2764 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Thanks Marie and Kathy for the info. I'm still going to find me some King Crab legs though:p. Vicki - I think it might be the outdoor type thing. I have always wanted to go to Alaska and a cruise is the best way for me.
NMCruiser55 Posted March 25, 2011 #2765 Share Posted March 25, 2011 TGIF Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Rich - I'm sure you'll be able to find King crab legs somewhere. :)
Koval Posted March 25, 2011 #2766 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Alaska was nice, but if I am going to spend allot of money on a Vacation, I want to be warm.... But I'll take a cruise when ever possible, it just costs me 3 times as much to have Nick with me. Cruise X 2 and he spends money (I don't, well not like he does) I am a bargain hunter, he is a see it and buy it guy.
satex Posted March 25, 2011 Author #2767 Share Posted March 25, 2011 Good afternoon SMDers. Stuck here at work once again. Oh well! kathy - I'm sure I will, but I'm looking for maybe all you can eat:D. Marie - I'm with you on finding a bargain, but Alaska is a once in a lifetime cruise, so I just had to pay what is cost. It was still cheaper joining in on the CC group cruise then it is now. I saved over $200:p.

It was still cheaper joining in on the CC group cruise then it is now. I saved over $200:p. Alaska was more spendy that the other cruises and I didn't even get a balcony which we really did want, but not for the price. I feel like I got a pretty good rate and it's now almost $600 more than what I paid when I booked last September.
She-ra Posted March 26, 2011 #2769 Share Posted March 26, 2011 Hello....is there anybody out there? At home this week-end getting ready for my next (work) trip. Looked at the deck plan for the Magic. I'm only seeing a few bars on deck 5 and no sports bar. Maybe I need glasses. There is a bar, the Red Frog, that has a Key West-type theme so that may make for some interesting trivia questions. Mike and Pete are interested in going on an Alaska cruise in 2012. Which month is better to go and which cruise line should we look at? We've only cruised on Carnival. I'll check in later. Hope everyone's enjoying the week-end -Sherri
NMCruiser55 Posted March 26, 2011 #2770 Share Posted March 26, 2011 HI Sherri Princess and HAL have been going to Alaska the longest so have the routine down. We went with Princess the last week of August (09). We did the cruisetour and enjoyed the fall colors in Denali. We had great weather but who knows what it will be. May cruises usually are cheaper but the weather is cooler. July is peak month as the weather is the warmest. I'm not sure if this helped..we are not typical cruisers. satex Posted March 26, 2011 Author #2772 Share Posted March 26, 2011 Good afternoon SMDers. Sherri - we are going in Jun and I expect the weather to be nice. I don't know about any of the other cruise lines, but the reason I'm going with Carnival is of course, we are VIP's. I also booked the CC group so it was cheaper and got $100 OBC plus the future cruise cert gives us another $100 OBC (love those FCC's:D). Kathy answered the ? best witht he other info. Kathy - Did ya get the painting done? lol Well the Matey's jump on board tomorrow for 8 days and they are all enjoying Miami tonight. Here is wishing them all a great cruise! satex Posted March 27, 2011 Author #2774 Share Posted March 27, 2011 Great job on finding all the bars Marie. So, what is that, 8 bars and a couple of dance clubs. But a few of those will be closed at night. I just looked and there is also the Hat Trick Bar at the casino. We will be at it all night long;). Having a CC group and being VIP would influence my choice too. I'm not sure if we'll hit platinum with Carnival or Princess first but I'm looking forward to it. Painting- The house is on hold for a while. We need to pick which room. I'm holding out for a bathroom remodel along with the master bedroom. The fence is also half painted. Did the side with neighbors I like. The other two sides may get done this fall. Took a good look at our outdoor plants. I think we'll be removing a lot of dead plants (because of the freeze). We'll have to plant this fall or next spring, summer is too hot. Looking for heat and cold tolerant plants, hard combination. We would have time to plant this spring if we weren't going on a trip to Florida. Going to be gone for 26 days, traveling over 4,000 miles. I am not happy over the increase in the cost of gas. :( We are pulling a pop up which doesn't affect the gas mileage but we are using our pickup which is worse than the car. I seem to be a bit chatty today. :o
