Photo Review of Fascination 8/25 to 8/29 – with food porn!

I had been dying to go to the Hemmingway house to see the 6 toed cats so that was our plan. We decided not to pay for a mini electric car, we would just walk. It did not dawn on me how freaking hot the Keys are! It felt like 115 degrees the whole day! And when the locals say something is just up the block, it is like a mile away or more, LOL. Note to self, next time rent a mini electric car or golf cart and really explore the island!

Pretty trees along the way:

We found the Hemingway house and found my 6 toed cats:

Look at those feet!

LOVING your review & photos!! Great job & thank you:p

Glad you are enjoying the review! I was hoping that people would like it since there are not alot of Fascination reviews out there and I really like this ship. I turned my dad onto this ship about 9 months ago and he has already been on her 2 times with a 3rd trip booked in October!

After rehydrating and cooling off, we walked down Duval St back towards the boat, just sight seeing.

Cute puppies at a pet store:

My sister and her husband will be on the Fascination for a 5-day cruise in November, his first and her second cruise. So far, we have found plenty to do on the small ships. I will be on the Ecstasy in January with our other sister.

We've looked at some of the new menu offerings, so it's good to see pics of the porn. Are you still waiting for your waiter to place your dessert menu on the table each night?

Your sister maybe cruising with my dad if that is when they are cruising :D This ship still was using the old menus, the maitre d said that they are changing their menu in the next month. Yes, we did have to wait for the dessert menu.

Then we got some conch fritters that were awesome! Sorry I don’t have pics of them, DH started scarfing them down too fast!

We couldn’t leave Key West without trying some sort of Key Lime pie so DH got a Kermit’s frozen chocolate dipped piece of pie. It was so good! Do you think DH liked it?

As much as we LOVED Key West, I hated that I hadn’t had time to plan for this port (I am one of those crazy planner types). We carried a ton of BRAND NEW snorkeling equipment with us on this cruise, thinking we could do an awesome snorkeling excursion in Nassau. I even bought a new underwater camera for snorkeling so our pictures would be great. We didn’t get to use any of it because of the changing of itinerary! Some folks would get mad but I figure I can use the snorkeling equipment and camera when I go on Liberty in January 2012 so it’s all good! Part of enjoying your vacation is going with the flow and enjoying the moment you are in. That is what we focused on and we enjoyed ourselves!

Back on the boat early, hoping to get some pool time before everyone got back on the boat. We were able to relax in the pool and DH got a nice cold can of Foster’s beer. After the pool we did some quick Facebook check ins on my smart phone and then got ready for dinner in the MDR. But first, we had to try some of the sushi first. It was pretty good.

We asked to sit in Kreshimir’s section in the Your Time Dining section again. He was so nice and took good care of us. I am still not sure if I like Your Time Dining or not. I like that I do not have to rush to get to the MDR at 6pm but if you go at 7pm or later, you miss a lot of the entertainment the waiters do. Although it is kind of cheesy, I missed it this time!

Tonight’s dinner:

Fruit appetizer:

Fried mozzarella:

Tom Turkey-this was really good this year!

100_0836.jpg

Spa Carnival Grilled chicken breast with blueberry compote-this was one of the best meals I had on the trip! The chicken was juicy and the blueberries were incredible! And less than 350 calories! I will definitely try Spa selections again!

Thanks so much for your feedback, I really wanted to do a review people would enjoy. I will be sure to tell DH how lucky he is ;) Oh wait, he knows and he shows me all the time! He doesn't even mind that I am cruising without him in January when my fellow therapists and we head out to cruise together.

Thank you so much for the great review! I'll be on Fascination with DH, DD and DD's best friend in 12 days! My 2nd cruise, but 1st for the others. We're so excited. DH is looking forward to all the food. :) We aren't scheduled for Key West, but would love to visit after your photos of the kitties.

One more week till I leave on my cruise on the Fascination and I LOVE to read any and all cruise reviews! Loving yours and I have already picked out my deck chair by the pool based on your pictures :D

Thanks for the feedback :) One thing I like about this ship is that even when the pool is crowded, you can usually find a chair. Even my dad talks about how there are few chair hogs on this ship compared to the other 5 Carnival ships he has been on.

Have a great cruise!

The food is great on this ship, that is for sure! My dad swears this ship has the best food out of all the ships he has been on. He is picky so this is a strong statement :) Enjoy your cruise!

I'm wondering about the booze... I didn't know Carnival offered the purchase of booze in your room other than wine. Please explain and give me an idea of the prices. Thanks

You can bring 1 750ml bottle of wine per person in your carry on. If you call the Bon Voyage department before you sail, you can order liquor (not sure how close to cruise time you can order, we ordered months ago) and it will be in your room when you get on the ship. Expensive but much easier than smuggling ;) Here is the info:

Here's a recent update list~

Bon Voyage 800-522-7648 ~You have to call to order~not available online! Monday-Friday 9am-5pm EST

They may have other choices, so if you don’t see something you like, ASK

Most bottles are 1 liter in size. Prices may vary & DO NOT INCLUDE TAX.

If you want a receipt you need to ask them to email you one.
