My wife and I are trying to decide on cruise. Narrowed it down to Caribbean Princess out of San Juan, Mariner of the Seas out of Galveston, Nieuw Amsterdam out of Ft Lauderdale, or Norwegian Pearl out of Miami. All leave on Christmas or the day after. We have sailed only Princess in the past but would consider another line. We are in 30's early 40's and enjoy newer ships and basic balcony cabins. Food quality is also important along with service. We are leaning towards the Nieuw Amsterdam, but are worried we will be the youngest ones on the ship. Any suggestions? Assume ports of call don't matter.

You will not be the youngest on the ship, particularly on a holiday cruise.

 

The demographics on Princess vs. HAL are practically identical.

 

As a plus HAL cabins are larger and the service can't be beat.

You most definately will not be the youngest on the ship, I sailed the Nieuw Amsterdam last year and the ages were all over the place from young kids and adults, to older adults. The cabins were very big, and the food sensational..you'll love the NA..

You will not be the youngest, not by a long shot. You are going to run into families with Children. You might find the ship overbooked as many are when there are a lot of children on board. As for the NA, she is a wonderful ship. I was on the NA last February and I just loved this ship. I will be on her again in late January and early February and I can hardily wait to board her.

HAL is the choice to make.

 

The service, food and cabins are far superior to anything Princess has to offer.

Galveston often has fog problems in December. Departure as been delayed for up to 3 days in the past.

The Nieuw Amsterdam attracks a much younfer crowd -- especially over the holidays.

Give HAL a try. The food is great and the ship is beautiful. You will certainly not feel out of place as there is a good mix of ages onboard. The New Year's cruises are super fun. We just booked another one.
