robnz Posted September 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2011 Any suggestions on getting into PIE to Tampa and then back after cruise without spending a fortune? Getting in night before cruise so need to get to an airport with shuttle service from hotel to port.
JohninDC Posted September 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 11, 2011 I would look at renting a car - we used National last April and they will shuttle you from their TPA airport location to the port for free. They will also pick you up at the port of Tampa and shuttle you back to TPA to pick up another car. Many of the other agencies at TPA offer simila service. ;) There are rental offices very close to the port, but the prices their tend to be much higher than at the airport locations whenever I search. Good luck! :)

fendbass Posted September 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 12, 2011 I think that John overlooked the fact you will be flying into PIE (St Petersburg / Clearwater). This is a lot further and less convenient to the port than TIA. To the best of my knowledge, they have no shuttle services there at all, I don't think even the local hotels have shuttle services. I'm not even sure about car rentals, but you can try their web site http://www.fly2pie.com/ground_transportation/ I think your only options are to take a cab, or Super Shuttle http://www.supershuttle.com/ I live about 12 miles north of the airport. It is just not busy enough to warrant many services

The rental booths are located in the baggage claim area.http://www.airportrentalcars.com/us-airports/saint-petersburg-clearwater-pie/ There are also a few hotels that have shuttle service to PIE but they will be the hotels in the Clearwater area near the airport, not any Tampa hotels. You could also stay at one of these airport shuttle hotels and then hire the SuperShuttle to take you to and from the port. http://www.supershuttle.com/en/PIEAirportShuttleTampaBay.html Just a thought. Here is a list of hotel near PIE with airport shuttles. http://www.hotelplanner.com/Hotels/4170-NEAR-St-Petersburg-Clearwater-Airport-PIE
robnz Posted September 12, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted September 12, 2011 Thank you for all your replys. I know it would have been easier to fly into Tampa airport but it was approximately 1500.00 cheaper to fly into PIE. I could get a limo and still not spend that much money!! I will look into all your suggestions. Thank you all so much. Wish us luck first cruise and flight for my kids!!!
