We just got back from a wonderful Mediterranean cruise on board the Epic.

I posted pictures and trip report on our blog. Let me know if you have any questions! This forum had been so helpful during my planning process so feel free to ask away!

You're welcome Kisigi!

I noticed they changed the port slightly for next year, which included Monte Carlo and Marseille instead of Mallorca. We actually preferred Monte Carlo but alas this year's schedule only included Mallorca :p

Have fun!

My friend and I are sailing on the Epic's repositioning cruise, leaving Barcelona on October 23rd. She will be using a scooter or wheelchair for the entire 13 day trip. We won't be using any of the water fun things. What would you suggest we do during our 13 night voyage?

Hi catnanny, they try to do different activities every day. Sometimes there are block of times where we didn't find anything in particular that interest us but it's fine because then we just used the time to rest.

Some of the activities that I remember that might be suitable:

  • Spa (mani/pedi, massage)
  • Lounging on the pool deck/sun deck
  • Wine tasting at Le Bistro (I think this cost extra).
  • Bingo
  • Casino, Poker tournaments
  • Nightly shows: Cirque Dreams & Dinner, Blue Man Group, Legends, Spanish Ballet, Stephen Sorrentino
  • Games: Dancing with the stars, Newlywed games
  • Pizza making/cupcake decorating - this seemed to be geared more towards kids and families
  • Knitting
  • Library: the hours for checking out books are limited but if you bring your own books you can read in the area, or maybe bring cards to kill time. We saw some families playing board games but not sure if they brought their own games or if it's from the library
  • Intro to Spanish class

Do you know if Moderno was opened for lunch? I saw a video on you tube recently suggesting they were going to offer lunch there.

@debt: I don't think Moderno was open for lunch. I'm pretty sure I read the dailies and looked at the lunch option but did not recall Moderno being one of them. If I recall correctly, only Garden Cafe, The Great Outdoors (which is basically the same as Garden, but just outside), Taste, and O'Sheehans are open for lunch. If you prefer served on your table lunch then Taste would be a good option. We ended up eating at Garden Cafe most days just because it was easy.

I think I read somewhere on the board that Moderno lunch is only available for guests staying on the suites? Maybe it is available but they do not advertise it?

@sheila59:I'm glad you enjoyed it! :) I want to say the pay per view movies was around $10, not sure exactly but I think it was around that price. We mostly watched E! entertainment news for free which was one of my favorite TV channel, so I'm glad they had it!

Be aware Epic is not very wheelchair friendly on the open decks. There is no access to the Sun deck level (stairs by the bar/great outdoors end and stairs by the slides). Spice H2O is tiered with steps up to the bar.

However whilst the sun deck on top of the top hat can't be accessed by the foreward lifts, you can use the outside glass one on the Starboard side near great outdoors.

@mmemichele: Thanks :) Yup, definitely do as much shopping as possible on Saturday before the cruise! There is one shopping mall that was open on Sunday but it didn't carry the brands we wanted, but in case you needed to kill time, it's called Maremagnum located pretty close to Las Ramblas area in the Port Vell area. They has Lefties (which is the outlet for Zara). But that's pretty much it :p You can also do some shopping in Mallorca.

@djaycruiser: Thanks! Have fun on the Epic!
