Project_gal Posted September 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2011 Yesterday GMB, Unison and Unite announced plans to ballot members about joint industrial action on 30 November. We are scheduled to fly from Heathrow to Florida for our next cruise on that day. Does anyone know the likelihood of flights being affected by any strikes? I was wondering about the fire crews, immigration and customs and if we should start contingency planning. Sue
scrozuk Posted September 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2011 Have to say, not sure who is and who isn't going to strike on that day. It may also affect any cruises or ship movement in the ports across the country. It's been bad enough in Southampton with the militant strikes that have been going on for months now. Just wonder if we'll ever see the end of it. Hopefully those workers will see sense and call off this strike action, no good will come of it, and make matters worse for themselves. EJNutz Posted September 15, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2011 if any public sector workers strike it will mainly affect the passport control areas. This could result in some delays. As yest no strike hgas been voted for. The workers may vote for action short of a strike.
