TEXAS HOLD’EM IS HERE!

Princess Cruises recently opened the first Low Limit Poker Lounge on the Grand Princess. The poker lounge features poker tables offering Low Limit Hold'Em. Complimentary lessons are available for new players and a fun poker tournament is held at least once a cruise. The Grand Princess currently sails on a seven day Western Caribbean itinerary out of Galveston, Texas.

The Grand Princess is the first cruise ship to introduce a new line of Ocean Players Club Poker Lounges. Other lounges will be introduced on selected vessels during 2005.

We were on the Pride to Mexico Easter week and I played in a low limit tournament--came in 17th out of 30 as a first timer. They actually held two tournaments on the cruise. They held the tournaments in the Renaissance Lounge next to the casino and they also had "pick-up" games there nearly every day.

The staff was great. Very low key, no pressure, and helpful to first-timers like myself. We had to sign up in advance for a total of 30 players, 3 tables of 10--2 days ahead, I think--and we played in the afternoon on a day at sea. The entry fee was $60 and we got $450 (?) in chips to start. The top 3 monied--I believe it was 100% payout--at about $1000, $500, $300, as I recall.

Great fun for all and I can't wait to play again when I go on the Triumph in Aug.

Cheers!

We're sailing on Liberty in August.

It's a brand new ship. Do you think it will have a card room.

That would be cool, I great excuse to stay off deck with all the kiddies.

100% payouts are pretty hard to believe. Carnival would be loosing money, they could just put slot machines in that space.
