Corkage Fee

How much is the corkage? Will they keep 1 bottled chilled or do you have to take it back to your room.

Also if you uncork the bottle yourself and carry it down to dinner will they still charge you corkage?

At the beginning of the cruise during embarkation day, guests (21 years of age and older) may bring on board one bottle (750ml) of wine or champagne, per person, only in their carry-on luggage. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the main dining room; $14 corkage fee per bottle in the steakhouse. (A corkage fee is a charge exacted at a restaurant for every bottle of liquor served that was not bought on the premises).

Your MDR waiter will keep your wine chilled upon request. Yes, you may be charged a corkage fee if you open your own bottle. A corkage fee has to do with the consumption of wine not purchased through the premises/restaurant where you are having the wine, not who opens the cork or who serves the wine.

That being said, it is hit or miss whether or not you will be charged a corkage fee. It will vary ship by ship and it is usually up to the Maitre D of that ship. Some enforce it, some are lax.
