Sun Princess off to Asia.

Sun Princess is in Brisbane today after her Round Australia cruise

and will turnaround and head off for a lovely 42 day cruise to Asia.

I like the overnight in Hong Kong, especially with it being on a weekend.

We did the Cherry Blossom Cruise on the Dawn Princess, leaving from Shanghai, a couple of years ago and went to some of these ports. They were great and loved them all. The itinerary was full of WW11 history.

Had to laugh at the comments of the Captain on TV tonight that the cruise terminal is on the wrong side of the Gateway Bridge. How Brisbane lacks the necessary infrastructure to cater for larger cruise ships.

 

Princess got good media coverage on TV tonight, saw articles on channel 10 & 7.

He's right though, if we want to get the big ships into Brisbane we need another terminal on the other side of the Gateway Bridge. When we docked in Brisbane on the Oriana it was at Fishermans Island. The only problem with that was that it is a fair hike from anything and they had to put up tents as a temporary terminal for the passengers.

The Round Australia cruise before this one finished in Brisbane instead of Sydney.

We had friends on that and they chose it because it finished in Brisbane and was easier , and less hassle, to get to the airport and fly back to Auckland.
