Guarantee Booking - Price Reduction After Cabin Assignment

We booked a guarantee (category BG balcony cabin) for our upcoming March 2012 cruise and have already been assigned to a category BA balcony cabin.

 

The price for the guarantee category BG cabin went down during the recent 3-day sale so our agent checked on getting us the price reduction. Princess informed our agent that if we wanted to take advantage of the category BG price reduction we would have to give up our assigned BA category cabin and go back into the category BG guarantee pool and wait to be assigned another cabin.

 

This is an "FYI" in case others would like to know how this situation is handled by Princess.

Thanks for the heads up but this is something your TA should have known to start with and alerted you to the possibility. They shouldn't have had to call Princess.

there is nothing new about this - the price reduction is for a cabin in the guarantee pool and is how Princess has handled it for quite some time. Personally I would probably stick with the BA assignment.

Yes I agree.. This is my understanding also how "guarantee" price reductions have always worked. If you opted for the reduction you go back into the guarantee pool in your original catagory, but with the new reduced price.
