Taxi to the Beach

Good evening,

My family and I are sailing on the Carnival Dream in 2 weeks. My wife and I have been there before and done the reef dive and beach break (Bannister Cay) before.

 

We want to do something a little different especially considering we are going with my in-laws. I've been having trouble trying to figure out if its possible to take the tender to port and simply take a taxi to a beach?

 

Does anyone have any recommendations? We aren't really interested in a tour, tubing or seeing any ruins.

There are no beaches near Belize City that I am aware of. Old Belize tourist center is the closet thing to a beach. http://www.oldbelize.com/index.php?section=11

I would make sure it is an official taxi...we heard some less enjoyable stories about taxi rides in Belize...
