rowlady Posted September 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2011 I have been reading and reading all about mini suites on the Epic and my head is spinning....................can someone tell me if cabin 11266 has a pretty good size balcony (maybe big enough for lounge chairs?) and is the bed by the balcony. And any advice on how important it is to have the bed by the balcony for maneuvering around the cabin would be much appreciated. Thanks!

If you go to NCL.com, you can see a layout and photo of the cabin. The balcony isn't big enough for lounge chairs. http://www2.ncl.com/cruise-ship/epic/decks/2/11#tab_detail The bed appears to be closer to the door and bathroom - not the balcony. It appears that the only difference is, the mini suite with balcony has a bathtub and is about 30 square feet bigger. The layout seems similar in both, as does the balcony. I just went back to NCL.com, and now I see it can have either a tub or shower: "The Mini-Suites with a Balcony have room for up to four and feature curved walls, a sitting area, two lower beds that convert to a queen-size bed and a luxury bath with shower or tub. The also include additional bedding to accommodate two more guests and a private balcony with an amazing view."

rowlady Posted October 1, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted October 1, 2011 Thanks for the info so far - I have read most people prefer the bed by the balcony but a luxury shower sounds nice. What is your opinion on which is better and why?
melfan3 Posted March 13, 2015 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2015 I know I am responding to a very old post but could you tell me if 11266 has a pull down bunk? TA told me it did and trying to talk me into this cabin Vs. Family mini. Do not seem to be able to get an answer on which cabins have this feature from anyone, including NCL! BendORcruiser Posted March 13, 2015 #10 Share Posted March 13, 2015 Thanks for the info so far - I have read most people prefer the bed by the balcony but a luxury shower sounds nice. What is your opinion on which is better and why? I've had staterooms with both configurations, although not on the Epic. It seems from reading the threads most people tend toward preferring the bed nearest the balcony. We actually prefer the bed nearest the door. My wife gets up earlier than I do and with the bed closer to the door it just feels like she has access to the sofa area and balcony together. It makes for a larger "living space." But I can see benefits both ways.
bluesea777 Posted March 13, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) I know I am responding to a very old post but could you tell me if 11266 has a pull down bunk? TA told me it did and trying to talk me into this cabin Vs. Family mini. Do not seem to be able to get an answer on which cabins have this feature from anyone, including NCL! Nope, because it sleeps only 3 people. The couch bed that slides out (not fold out as in the Jewel class and other older ships) sleeps the 3rd person who can be an adult. Look at the deck plans. If the cabin has a +, then it sleeps 4 and has a drop down bunk bed from ceiling. BTW, family minis are same sized as ordinary minis. Just look at the deck plans for the locations of the family minis - they are usually closer to the kids clubs.
