Nieuw Amsterdam balcony questions

We recently spent a wonderful 20 days on the Noordam in an SY cabin. We have become HAL fans and would like to book a cabin on the NA. I've researched the balcony sizes - looked at Joanie's site etc. The balcony sizes are stated to be 6ft deep for VA,VB and VC, with VE only 4ft. There is a photo on Joanie's site of 5122 which states the verandah is 4.5ft.

As SY 5096 and 5091 are beside the VE's, this means the verandahs must be very narrow. We spent a lot of time outside on our last cruise, and would like to do the same this time. Has anyone experienced these cabins? Does the extra length make them any more useable? We like the midship location and the extra room inside, but can't afford the deluxe suites.

Also, on the deck plans, the VC cabins on deck 5 appear to have smaller balconies than the VE's. Is this just an illusion? We'll most likely have to book a VA/B/C to have the outdoor space.

Thanks to all the CC members who helped to make our cruise such a success.

It's not an illusion that they appear that way, but the diagram is incorrect. The VE are shown too large. Here is Nieuw A VE5122

I suggest you book a deck 8 V to get a 7 ft deep balcony that's fully covered.

Thanks jtl513. We had been concerned that the V cabins were under the Lido deck but there appear to be some which are may have quieter areas above them.
We had 8057 on the N.A. and the only significant noise we heard was from 10:30 pm to midnight on the night of the Dessert Extravaganza ... but if you are concerned about that, choose one under the carpeted Lido area.
